If you're pouring candles, be sure to let the wax itself cool a bit (almost to the point of solidifying again) before pouring. Too hot, and you'll end up with air pockets or receding along the wick. Oftentimes, this will lead to the candles being unable to stay lit. Also, let the candles cure for at least several days (the longer, the better) before lighting.
