  • I have a friend who is frustrated with our local N. O. church because a modernist, Marxist priest is giving a series on "How to vote as a Catholic." It's all the old "seamless garment" crud about "there are other issues besides abortion; we have to help the illegals, we have to redistribute everything, we have to oppose capital punishment, we have to oppose capitalism, we have to oppose individualism, we have to vote more money for teachers' pensions, etc.

She and her husband are ready to jump over to the TLM, but thinks they would be leaving the Church. I've sent her some SSOX links. What is a good book for them to read? I have many, many books; but I don't want to overwhelm them. They think the Consecration of Russia has been done, they think they cannot use a Douay Rheims translation of the Bible because it is pre-V2, they read that our trad chapel is in "schism." Other than praying for them, any ideas?

  • Do you have anything by Michael Davies?  Also, there are "official" statements about it being OK to attend Mass with the SSPX.  Have you shown those to your friends yet?

  • I would recommend the following books:

The Mass of All Time - Archbishop Lefebvre
They Have Uncrowned Him - Archbishop Lefebvre
The Roman Rite Destroyed - Michael Davies? (not 100% sure he wrote that, so I may be wrong)
    ѕуηαgσgυє Rising - Hugh Akins

Those are just a few, there are some other good ones out there.

The video "What we Have Lost... and the Road to Restoration" would also be good to send them.

And finally, CatholicApologetics has some good content:

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Tumultuous Times, by Fr. Francisco Radecki and Fr. Dominic Radecki.  by St. Joseph's Media, P.O. box 186 Wayne, MI 48184-0186 or P.O. box 220208, Newhall, CA 91322.  This is a hard back book of $25. 650 pages.  It explains the history of the church til now and is easy reading. It explains all the truth and nothing but the truth.  Of all the books I have read, this says it all and is #1 in my opinion.

How about talking to someone like me who is fairly new from NO.  Look at the number of novus ordo elected officials who were present at the Democatic  National convention.  They all went along with banning God and even booed him.  Rome and local bishops did nothing.

Also, tell them if we are in schism then how about the lutherans and their wives and children who are head of their parishes.  Why love and respect for all religions including those who deny Jesus Christ and yet hatred for all things Catholic and traditional.  Maybe you could express this better then I can..

For years we were taught and brainwashed to believe those lies.

How can we be in schism when it is Vatican II who protected rapists and child molestors while at the same time excommunicating good and holy priests?

May God bless you and keep you

  • Which illegal aliens are hey talking about?   Do they condone the illegal aliesn who attacked us Americans on September 11, 2001.

Tell them that closing schools, churches and banning Catholics bibles from pre vatican II is pure communisim and socialism too.

  • The Great Sacrilege by Father Wathen.  It was written and originally published in 1970 or 1971 very soon after the Novus Ordo was introduced.  It was the book that convinced me that I could no longer attend the Novus Ordo.

TAN no longer publishes this book because it is critical of the New Mass but it is available in its entirety on DailyCatholic.org.

Having never heard of Fr. Wathen till a few years ago, and having been raised to avoid the NO my whole life, I never really had a clear understanding of just why the NO was so evil until I read The Great Sacrilege. Excellent suggestion TKGS!

  • I can tell you that Michael Davies knew that a valid Pope could not invalidate the Eucharist so he worked from that assumption.  His overall work is good though.  The work from Omlar is good.  I need to read Father Wathan but the book on this topic by him is held in high regard.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world."
