  • Jesus-in-the-box at www.JaneVoigts.com
Horrible, but not evidence for your statement.  The image is not Jesus in the box, but cyclist in a bible, for the purpose of mockery. That woman is our contemporary, has no care for religion or faith at all, only to promote herself.

Nadir: I will look in the book by Robert Wilberforce, who wrote on the Holy Eucharist, he was a convert from the Anglican, like Cardinal Manning. It has been awhile, but when I read it, and it was mentioned, wow! that stuck in my mind.  We know that the Church has been fun of for such a long time.
I did a websearch for Robert Wilberforce and found him a person of interest. Twice married, twice widowed, part of the Oxford Movement, studied in Rome for the priesthood but died before he was ordained. What is the name of the book. I would still like to see the evidence for your statement, thank you, Songbird.

  • The Doctrine of the Holy Eucharist, by Wilberforce  at www.ForgottenBooks.org    I looked but did not see it in there.  But where ever I did read it, Hocus Pocus was also mentioned. Making fun of Hoc est corpus meum of the Mass.  Used in the 1600s about 1630 1640. The name Ady and John Tillotson of Canterbury comes up on the google.

I have so many books, Nadir. It used to be I could look up online, Jack-in-the-box and it would speak of Protestants. It  seems the encyclopedia can change. It used to be easy to find.  I am wondering just how many other word foolery etc.

  • www.ecatholic2000.com Google Relics of Popery.  Jack-in-the-box used or came about during reformation 1547 with the words on the lid, "Hocus Pocus". Reformers gave this title Jack-in-the-box to the The Blessed Sacrament.
