So, YOU know something definitive, whether generally or specifically?

You know I love you, CM, but...shut the hell up. My statement is both rational and accurate where faith is concerned. It just gets under your skin that you have nothing to say that can disprove it.

I don't even KNOW if my underwear are sufficiently clean, if I have any cavities, etc., yet I presume I have a clue about death and judgment, whether my own or others'? I am going to have some seriously-honeyfied Yerba Mate and enjoy the warm FL sun.

Is "no one knows anything" the new mantra? God did not put us here to be gaping, drooling blank slates, gladius. Don't take the non-judgmental thing too far.

Of course these men and women knew something. We're talking about saints. Saints are guided by God. When they speak, it is as near as you'll get to hearing God speak, outside of a true apparition or the sayings of Jesus or the Old Testament God or the prophets. As the Psalm has it, "Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom." Well, these people -- saints, as in saints of God -- were at least in the intermediate stage of fear and wisdom, most likely in the expert stage. Not only that but experience bears out exactly what they are preaching here.

Now CM will say that canonizations mean nothing and that these were all heretics. You can't win around these parts.

Actually the closest you'll ever get to hearing God speak is the infallible Magisterium. But I suppose that just slipped your mind?

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Don't take my words in a sense they are not meant. Such helps no one.

The Holy Church is guided DIRECTLY by the Holy Ghost, and has said ZERO about this very point. The most that has been said is what Incarnate Wisdom said, which was pretty vague - for a good reason.

Now, if you could kindly refrain from acting as if I said one thing when I really said another, this exchange might be more profitable and I would be most appreciative.

Exactement...and there are how many statements that touch, specifically or generally, upon the number of the saved and damned? That would be zero.

All we have is "many" used in a sense that SEEMS rather dark, while the Divine Master used the SAME WORD in a positive sense within the Adorable Sacrifice. Now, while He is perfectly wise, good, truthful, consistent, etc., we are bungling dopes. Again, if I cannot even know something so simple as whether or not all of my teeth will be in my mouth ten years from now, why would I waste my time and energy trying to know the number of the elect? I know there ARE elect - my part is to live as if I want to be among them, not to act as if God said something about it all that He did not say. Now, I will walk downstairs, dragging my knuckles on my way to get some tea, which I will try to drink without spilling half of it all over myself. "Unga bunga!" [I always DID like Captain Caveman.]

Just so it is clear: The judgment that is most important to me, namely MY OWN, is most unclear to me. From what I can see, the chances are kinda slim, but I am not dead yet, so I shall see what I can do, with God's powerful assistance, to put things in order with whatever time I have left. While I imagine there are some out there for whom things are looking a sight better than they look for me, I would also imagine there are some for whom they seem to be worse, at least in the one area of knowing what is to be done to secure salvation. True, though a small fraction hangin in there, but largely, Sweden is athiestic....a shame, Faith never really took deep root, though some good saints.....
