Shortly after his election (May 8), Leo XIV commissioned the ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ designer Filippo Sorcinelli, 50, to provide the chasuble and mitre for his first Eucharist as a Pope on 9 May.
Sorcinelli received his first papal commission from Benedict XVI.Sorcinelli has designed vestments for both Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis. For Francis, he crafted more than 20 pieces, including the one the pontiff wore during his inaugural Mass in 2013. For Benedict XVI, he created nearly 50 garments, some worn at key historical moments of his papacy.
He has built up "close relationships" with Francis. Fittingly, Francis was buried wearing a mitre made by the ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ designer.
Sorcinelli runs the 'LAVS' store for clerical supplies near the Vatican. He is also an organist, and a member of the extremist ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ propaganda organisation Arcigαy, and a perfumer. His fragrance series includes scents inspired by sex, drugs ("poppers") and "perversions".
