    • It does raise an interesting point however.

    Just speaking canonically (prescinding from any SV considerations), if Francis were to resign, Benedict couldn't just "come back".  There would have to be a new conclave.

    • The real point of this is the fact that the April Fools joke was credible!  If this had been a real news story, it would not be unbelievable.
