  • Many of you have probably heard about the new Mighty Macs movie. It's supposedly an uplifting story about a Catholic college that has a positive portrayal of religious life. You may also know that there is a big Catholic push to support this film.

I saw a screening for the film at a Catholic blogger convention a few weeks ago and can unequivocally say that this movie is anything but Catholic.

The primary theme (once you get past the secular overcoming adversity theme) is praise of modern feminism. The secondary theme is that lying for the greater good (like winning a national championship) is fine. My impression of the real life coach who is the hero of the movie is that she is pro-feminist and was glad that her girls at the college abandoned the traditional path of raising a family for pursuing their "dreams".

I have a post coming out on our blog detailing these problems on the 17th.   :cussing:
