Meeting place for Tridentine Mass initiators

  • Pope Benedict XVI acknowleged in his recent motu proprio that all priests can use the 1962 Missal if they so choose. He also stated that if a group of people desire the Tridentine Mass, church pastors should do their best to accommodate this request. Most people, who wish there was a Tridentine Mass they could attend, do not know which other people in their area feel the same way. Thus it is difficult to form any type of group to request the Mass, or to try to form a local traditional Catholic community. A meeting place is definitely needed. Hopefully this thread will provide a helpful means for us to make such connections.

  • I'll start it off.

Location: Monroe Township, New Jersey, USA

Goal: Initially, to find others who want to work with me towards promoting Traditional Catholicism in this corner of the world, and form a group. Ultimately, to create a place nearby where we can attend the Tridentine Mass, and find one or more traditional priests to say the Mass for us at least on Holy Days of Obligation.

    What I can do:
    Provide significant financial support
Spend much time organizing, planning and fund-raising
Play organ and sing simultaneously, if the priest desires. I have experience playing organ and singing at a Tridentine Mass. I would be willing to do this free of charge.

Other Information: I am doing this because there is currently no Tridentine Mass within reasonable driving distance from my house, and we desparately need it. My grandparents cannot go very far to Mass, because it is difficult for them to travel at this point in life. My father works all night, often Saturday nights as well, and can't stay up late in the morning without missing much-needed sleep, so traveling long-distance to Mass is not possible. My younger brother has lived here all his life, and has therefore never had the opportunity to attend a Tridentine Mass. He has fallen away from Catholicism, because he thinks that the tragic corruption he has witnessed over the years in the modern church is what our religion is about. To my dismay, I can't communicate to him the indescribable beauty and reverence of the Tridentine Mass which he has never seen. My uncle reluctantly attends the Novus Ordo Mass, because there is no other option, but he tells us stories sometimes about the strange, unfortunate things that occur during the Mass. There are at least 4, maybe 6 or more of us in my family alone, who would attend a Tridentine Mass if there was one here. I am actively trying to find a group of traditional Catholics here to work with me, because the spiritual welfare of my family is very important to me, and we are very much in need of guidance at this point.
