Very well.  Matthew, may I please have permission to start one thread and one thread alone, wherein I may debate BoD and the pre-Vatican II antipopes?  I will not do so if you should tell me not to, but I do not want to give the impression that I am running from debate.  I most certainly am not.

  • Don't waste your time, instead read stories of how the early Christians were martyred, many converting right on the spot after being inspired by God and watching others give their life to Christ.

Such was the case of S. Sadoth, Bishop of Seleucia and Ctesipon with 128 companions

See attached from one of my very old books:
I hope you can read the words near the bottom: "Being arrived at the place of their martydom, they raised their voices still higher, blessing and thanking God for his mercy in bringing them thither, and begging the grace of perseverance, and that by this baptism of their blood they might enter into his glory."

These martyrs are honored in the Roman Martyrology on this day.  Feb.20 according to my book

What about St.Polyeuctus converted and died unbaptised of water, but of blood, we celebrate his Feast Day Feb. 13 in the ancient martyrology, which was sent from Rome to Aquileia in the eighth century, and which is copied by Ado, Usuard, and the Roman Martyrology.
His beautiful story in my same book.

I have countless other stories of BOB in these 2 volumn books.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Here again we have to ask CM for his credentials.  What makes him an expert's expert?  Divine revelation?  Exhaustive training?  What?

  • I do not have credentials.  Just take what I say and "prove all things and hold fast to that which is good".

That's all anyone can do anyway, even if credentials were a factor.

Matthew, what do you say?  I have a quote from Pope Gelasius that Myrna is dying to read.

Then why should anyone listen to you?

Next question:  What are you hoping to accomplish?

  • Nobody should "listen to me" as such, but rather read the compilations of Catholic teachings and quotations that I have been fortunate enough to find and believe and present, since by believing these one is strengthened against error.

I'm not asking anyone to read Calvin or Zwingli or Suarez, but St. Thomas, St. Augustine, the Fathers and to measure it all against the declarations of the solemn Magisterium, which are free from every stain of error.

All I wish to accomplish is to share with others the beautiful, coherent and perfect saving Catholic Faith that is obscured and undermined now in the world.

    Gee, it sounds so enticing.

But hold on - whoa --- it is your interpretation you want people to believe!

Otherwise just post the original docuмents without your added commentaries and conclusions.

Why not share the gems that the Catholic authors have given us without your spin on them?

  • Credentials, RC, credentials.  Impersonation of an expert.  Guilty until proven innocent.

St Thomas, in your world, IS in error.

According to you, St Thomas, et alii, 'undermine' this saving faith, David!  To rely on him at all in your comments and/or understanding makes NO sense.  You quote him often, yet despise his rock-solid ideas when they contradict your own.

This obscuration has, according to you, been going on, from Rome itself, for 132 years.  Wake up, man!  You are wrong -- dead wrong.

NO ONE has believed as you believe during the past 132 years.  How can you fail to see this?  You cannot proffer a single work of note that supports your claim.  Is this not cause for concern?

Of historical interest there was a schism in the French Church over the concordant with Napolean which declared the Pope of the time an anti-Pope.
