  • I'm laughing at all the articles protesting the new Novus Ordo missal that just came out. So much whining about "how dare you change the mass we've been using for over forty years now" and "the Pope has no right to make these changes that were already approved by other Popes before him".

Oh, the irony. Do any of these airheads know what happened back in 1969? And the ones complaining the loudest about the new missal are the same ones most adamantly opposed to the use of the TLM in their parishes.

Anyway, here's an article on a parish in NYC where already back in the 1930's, presumably during the pontificates of either Pius XI or Pius XII, these "progressives" were already using a vernacular version of the TLM:

    Quote
The church has been the James Dean of Catholic Churches since the 1930s, when the Rev. George Barry Ford allowed a priest to translate the Latin mass into English while Ford performed the sacred rites. The congregation would then respond in English.

The rot runs deep, ladies and gentlemen.

    How about this one?

    Quote
In case you're still not at peace with the new changes, let Franciscan Father Greg Friedman soothe your fears. In ten years, you'll be enraged when they change it back.

Ah yes, the timeless, unchangeable, universal church, always adapting to the whims of its members and the society that surrounds them.

    Huh?
St. Jude, who, disregarding the threats of the impious, courageously preached the doctrine of Christ,
    pray for us.

:roll-laugh1:Ha ha, that's exactly what I've been doing, laughing at these changes, the whining from some NO Catholics and also some of the words used to describe the changes.

From the article: "There are a lot of us who feel that the last 35 years of translation has been very banal and pedestrian, and the way that one wants to address God in a liturgy should not be pedestrian," parishioner Brenda Fairaday tells the paper.

"banal"? "pedestrian"? I guess if these people use odd words, it makes them feel like they know what they're talking about.

Besides laughing, I'm rolling my eyes and shaking my head, also.

Ok, now my emotions just changed to sadness.

And now I'm saying a prayer for Holy Mother the Church and all the confused souls who have been lost to the NO protestant religion.

And if you want some more laughs, or tears, whichever the case, go talk to some of those NOers and try to "un-confuse" them and see what happens.
