  • The East has always allowed married men to become priests. Also, what you wrote is wrong...

A married priest has been ordained by the Maronite Catholic Church in the United States for the first time in nearly a century. His wife and daughter were on hand to support him.

  • I would never attend the mass of a married priest or one who has been married or one who has kids.

I found out a priest I have attended masses with left and got married and had kids and then his wife died and now he is back. My nickname for him is a-hole.

That sounds schismatic to me.  Outside the United States the Eastern churches have always had married priests, and Rome has always allowed this practice.

If a priest leaves the priesthood to get married then he should never be allowed back. This priest is liberal and mocks the Church and scripture during Sunday homilies. He is one reason I have not been to Mass in 6 weeks and don't know if I will ever go back.

That is entirely different than a married man becoming a priest, which is a tolerated custom in the east-- and always has been.

Sacred orders are an impediment to being married, and even in the east, priests are not allowed to become married.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

Yes, you're right. I think what you experienced, crossbro, was just a heretical priest. If someone leaves the priesthood on their own volition for something like a desire to get married, they should've never been a priest in the first place.
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary...

I have run into two what I call "benders" in my lifetime. One was when I was in college a couple decades ago of a guy who said he was going to become a Lutheran missionary pastor first so he could get married then covert and become a married catholic priest. The other, 5 years ago at work, who went to Canada to the seminary so he could become an married eastern priest and then creep his way into the RCC as a married priest.

    That's quite insidious.

But surely you are not accusing the Maronite in question of this?  Your personal experience aside, this is the custom of the East, and it has been tolerated by Rome since the beginning.

That is right, in the east- so why is he allowed to do this in an American diocese ?- Welcome to the slippery slope.

There are Maronites in the USA under their own Bishops.
