  • I like to make maps from time to time to visualize different things, and a question I asked myself recently was "How many places in America have a Traditional Latin Mass?"

So, to see my answer rather than just read it (I like pretty pictures), I took a blank map of all of the counties in America and started filling in each county that had a TLM. I used Traditio's Mass directory as my resource for where the TLMs were located. Do note that this map contains all of the TLMs in the directory, including those done by the Conciliar Church.

Just think, 50 years ago this map was virtually all red.

  • It is also interesting that the State of Mississippi is "empty"; it does not have the grace of the True Mass in its boundaries.  Why?

  • Thanks for posting that map.  That should visually demonstrate the imprudence of the SSPX leadership in considering allowing themselves to be swallowed up by the conciliar church.  Consider the numbers--if the SSPX "surrenders" to the conciliar church, Rome will [continue to] overwhelm, dominate, assimilate, and take indecent liberties with tradition.  Furthermore, the SSPX leadership HAS TO BE intelligent enough to know this.

  • Thanks for posting this. I live in Des Moines, Iowa and thought there was only one Mass in the area. The map (and directory in the link) led me to a SSPV Mass nearby.

  • Looking at the Tradito directory for California, being in Northern California myself, there are  many errors that prove that the directory is in need of an update. To begin with, three diocesan TLMs in and around the San Francisco Bay Area are not listed at all. More importantly to those who are sympathetic to Traditio, a major independent Mass center in San Jose that includes a flourishing school academy is also not listed. In addition, the SSPX Retreat House in California is located in the city of Los Gatos, not in Santa Cruz, as the directory states. Apart from this, the directory incorrectly lists the time of the Sedevacantist Mass in Martinez. Instead of at 11:00 am, the Mass at Martinez  is really at 12:45 pm.

Apparently, Fr. David Nichols of the SSPX, who currently resides in the Society retreat house in  Los Gatos, celebrates Mass in 4 different SSPX churches in Northern and Southern Calironia all at the same time on Sunday. He does this while also flying to celebrate Mass in Nevada or Colorado every first Sunday or something if I recall correctly.
    :)

If there are these  much errors for California, there could be more errors in the listings of TLM Mass centers in other states as well.

It is also very interesting that Traditio recommends Fr. Perez at Our Lady Help of Christians in Garden Grove. He may be independent, but to Traditio standards, he is not a validly ordained priest since he was ordained by a cardinal who was consecrated a  bishop in 1983, way past the 1968 cut off.

  • Thanks for posting that, Alex.

    God Bless.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

That's a good question. I don't know. Perhaps Traditio doesn't know of any that are held in Mississippi, or perhaps there aren't enough congregated trads in Mississippi to make it worth going there.

In looking to get out of the big city, I have done a diligent assessment of the Western U.S. I too think the map paints an overly optimistic image. Remember, many western counties are huge and a conciliar abomination 'celebrated' once a month in a distant corner of a county is no consolation for hundreds of square miles.

I appreciate the effort and intent of the cartographer, but I do think this needs to go back to the drawing board.

May I suggest pinpoints? Or 50 mile radii? Contrasting color for the conciliar network?

  • Traditio depends on updates from folks like you and me to keep their Mass listings current.  I have given them updates numerous times for my areas and the changes are included in the next edition.

So if you know of changes in your area send them an email and let them know what is going on.  If no one speaks up they have no choice but to assume that nothing has changed.

I thought about making a map without the Conciliar Church's TLMs, but the new map would essentially show the same thing - that the true Mass has virtually been eradicated in the US. I also wouldn't by any means say that the map I created "paints an overly optimistic image". Even with the Conciliar Church's TLMs, the average American will have to travel quite a distance to receive the Lord in Holy Communion.

  • Interesting map for the sede chapels.

What is that one in Africa?

And why only one star in Mexico?  I thought the group Trento was down there?  Don't they have more than one chapel?  I really don't know.

I believe there is a group of sedefinitists in Japan.  I don't know if they have clergy, and I forget what they're called.

What about that star a few hundred miles north of New Zealand?  Underwater chapel?
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).
