  • Got this e-mail today. Don't know if this is good news or not (all I know is that anyone is better than Mahoney).

    Alleluia!

Archbishop Gomez of San Antonio has been appointed to succeed Cardinal Mahony as the new Archbishop of Los Angeles. Apologist Tim Staples has this to say about him:

"This guy is a rock! He caused a firestorm when he took the helm in San Antonio and fired half the chancery office! He is orthodox, a great man, Opus Dei, there is no compromise in him when it comes to orthodoxy and he is Hispanic to boot! As a friend of mine said today, "there is another earthquake about to hit L.A.!"

Agreed! the new Archbishop is another earthquake of a sort. Good and sound preaching from someone like him would help to resurrect the LA Archdiocese from its dark sepulcher so that we don't need another earthquake to do this for us next Easter!

With news like this we can truly say, Happy Easter!

  • Opus Dei?

Um... just a change of the face of the demon sitting in Los Angeles.

    Take a look at this.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • Orthodox can never be used as an adjective in front of "Novus Ordo".

It's quite ironic that Novus Ordo Catholics now use the word orthodox to mean that they think the person is actually Catholic.

It would be so much simpler if we could just say that Cardinal Mahoney is not Catholic, wouldn't it?

THIS GUY ISN'T NOTICEABLY EFFEMINATE AND ONCE WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT NANCY Peℓσѕι HE SAID THAT HE WASN'T HER BIGGEST FAN AND THEN CHANGED THE SUBJECT!!!!!!!  OH YEAH, AND DID I FORGET TO MENTION THAT HE'S HISPANIC!!!!!!  HE IS LIKE ATHANASIUS REBORN!!!!!!

The part about his being Hispanic is the best.  Uh, his being Hispanic is the essence of political correctness.  Placing him in L.A. will turn this city into even more of a post-apocalyptic barrio than it already is.  What a shock, he has no qualms about immigration!

I have a feeling "Gomez fever" is like Obama fever or Dudamel fever.  Translation:  "He's a minority and so that is supposed to be exciting for some reason."  For those who live in Los Angeles, Gustavo Dudamel is the new conductor of the LA Philharmonic, a South American communist who they try to sell us as being extremely charismatic.  Can you feel the raw personality?

This little tirade is so staggeringly delusional that I am just gobsmacked, speechless.

  • I take back all that I said.  I just learned Abp. Gomez is in Opus Dei.  They are conservatives who self-flagellate and wear undies made of razor blades.  They are so orthodox that they don't even believe Mary Magdalene had a kid with Christ.  They are keeping the Church in the stone age -- their minds are closed to anyone who wants to try to make people see Christ in a new way, to see Him as sensual and warm and capable of earthly love.

And they are close to the Pope who is really, really conservative -- just look at him.  He's, like, a total nαzι and German and stuff and doesn't believe that Africans should wear condoms.  This changes everything.

Okay, I admit, I'm just being sarcastic again about the childish fairy stories that people insist on telling themselves and which the devil is happy to reinforce through the press.  What else is there to do while people go on pretending that the Masons and witches who rise highly in today's Vatican are going to suddenly turn Catholic?

  • Raoul,

Once. I become a Sede, then what?

    Does it really matter?

Whether this is the Church or not it's all still going to Hell.

Sede-ism to me is just hopelessness and despair.

    I'm depressed enough already.

Sheesh!  I didn't mean to engender that kind of reaction.  All I can say is be comforted by knowing that others are in despair as well.  If you weren't in despair, I would seriously question your devotion.  We are witnesses to something unspeakably awful.

Oh wait -- you are just depressed, while sedes are the ones in despair.  I'll make sure to tell my fellow sedes about that; I'm not sure they know.

Is this the impression that sedes give off in the SSPX world?  I've never felt despair from sedevacantists at all.  I haven't met many, if any, who are as gung-ho as I am, though... Most of them are just provisional sedevacantists who would have no problem going to SSPX.  They just come across as normal Catholics -- too normal, in my opinion.  I always want more engagement, more action, more intensity from everyone.  There is such an inertia among Catholics, they are so constipated, I wish all trads could just completely throw off the shackles of VII and say "WE ARE THE CHURCH -- THEY ARE NOT."  Just draw the line in the sand once and for all.  I don't like this uneasy detente, this diplomacy with jackals.

You must think that the sedevacantist thesis in itself is permeated with despair.  But our circuмstances are so extraordinary that I've never doubted they will end or be changed in an equally extraordinary way.  I don't see why doubting Ratzinger's papacy is inherently fraught with despair.  Believing he is Pope is much more depressing.  Was St. Bernard in despair when he fought anti-Pope Anacletus II?  ( People don't talk about that bizarre, forgotten episode in Church history enough ).

Once you are a sede, not much will change, but you will have the satisfaction of not contributing your time and energy to a futile cause, or of being made a fool out of, over and over again.  You don't have to pretend that the "Holy Father" is going to correct any abuses.  I no longer believe that one will be damned by being in SSPX, but sedevacantism is more consistent.  Consistency is a big thing with me.

  • I don't know any sedevacantists who are in despair.  As a matter of fact, the ones that I do know are quite a happy bunch except that they seem to have more than the usual amount of crosses to bear.   And they bear them with a smile.

And I must say that they are the kindest and most charitable group I have ever encountered.   :pop:
