I don't see why doubting Ratzinger's papacy is inherently fraught with despair.  Believing he is Pope is much more depressing.

LOL. This did make me laugh. ;)

Sede-ism to me is just hopelessness and despair.

Well, then you don't understand it -- which is no crime.

Does adherence to BXVI, Mahony, his "grand" replacement, or the others give you hope?  I doubt it.

Whether one is sede-plenist or sede-vacantist or sede-privationist, super-natural hope is in God ALONE.  Godspeed, stevus.

Once you are a sede, not much will change, but you will have the satisfaction of not contributing your time and energy to a futile cause, or of being made a fool out of, over and over again.  You don't have to pretend that the "Holy Father" is going to correct any abuses.  I no longer believe that one will be damned by being in SSPX, but sedevacantism is more consistent.  Consistency is a big thing with me.

    Well said.

This is akin to the relief brought via the acceptance that nothing is going to change in the political circles -- until AFTER God humbles us all by what is dead ahead.

Working within the various, utterly-corrupt systems -- religious, political, etc. -- is, at this late hour, a complete waste of time.  ALL are beyond the kind of repair that comes from merely human influence.  God ALONE has the power to renew things, and ALL needs to be renewed -- from the water and soil all the way to the highest spiritual matters.

  • Matthew has already pointed out the many practical problems with Sedevacantism much less the theological ones.

  • Matthew did make a list, yes.  Does the list end the discussion?  No.

Others have pointed out the problems, theological and/or practical, with trad sede-plenism.  Do such points end the discussion?  No.

  • Back to the Bishop.

A response from our friends at CAF.

With all due respect, I think you need to do a little more research on the US Bishops position on immigration and health care reform, as well as on the relationship of a bishop to those Catholic Universities in his diocese. Bishops do not have governing authority over the Catholic Universities in their Diocese.

  •    Why not start a layman's Catholic Church in Exile.  Make no claims of being a true Vatican organization, but a group of people who wish to honor Jesus Christ and a return to authentic Christian authority . If you want a Latin Mass, do a Skype videocast that could be seen live on the INTERNET.

Deep six  all the arguments, betrayal and try to live positive Christian lives.

I can't understand how anyone would trust a Catholic Clergy that allowed false worship in 1986 Assisi. Scripture says you are not to eat with fornicators.

Rather you should say that subjective, self-serving opinions are big with you.  It must be really nice to project your false certitude free and unfettered, dispensing with all those other cuмbersome moral/canonical/theological principles.  That's where that "rush" of liberty you feel comes from.  It is your own form of liberalism and free-thinking principles in action.  And the false historical parities that you incessantly bring up (forgetting of course the sheer novelty of the matter) to justify yourself only serves to cement your newfound liberty.  Face it, you can't stand the thought of being in the same Church with men who are grevious sinners so you cast them all aside with the "heresy" card.  Remember now, we're not dealing with one Pope, but you must deal with the apostasy of the entire hierarchy that has juridically vanished.  Your solution has all the marks of a purely human, pragmatic approach that easily fits into the mind, thus the universal dismissal, while at the same time destroying other divine principles.  And then you have the sheer audacity to insult, calumniate or otherwise impugn those who refuse to accept your tastes and opinions.  You've been proven wrong time and time again, yet that hasn't slowed down your penchant for insulting traditional priests.

  • Isn't it funny how they can speak the same words that we do but they mean entirely different things by them?
