  • Live footage of Pope St. Pius X

Not the best quality, but surreal to see a man in heaven:

Rom 5: 20 - "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."

I watched the video and when I did, there was a pop-up that said that it was not Pope Pius X, but it was Pope Pius XI.

  • Those were really great to see, I really liked the one of Leo XIII from 1896!  I wonder if that recording of Ave Maria is his voice ?

Thanks for posting. Amazing what you can find on youtube.

Thanks for videos.  There's something fascinating about very old films and photos of people.  Just knowing they were just as alive as you or I at the time the image reflected onto the lenses, but are now at their eternal destination...It makes me think of the epitath on old New England gravestones, "Pause, stranger, as you walk by, As you are now, so once was I.  As I am now, so you shall be, Prepare for death and follow me."
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

LOL.  He was waving his hand around in circles; I'm guessing it was because someone told him about the video being taken.  Reminds me a little of John Paul II's "Woo Woo".

  • I can't help but notice Benedict XV's hand while blessing.

As a man, I don't like a weak/limp handshake.  And, I have to say, as a man, I don't like a limp wild blessing either.

Downthumb me if you like, but I didn't like his blessing.

The speed of the footage made it look like he was conducting an orchestra.

  • ihsv - Thanks for mentioning that, I think the speed of the film does play a part. None the less, it was quite limp.
