I know a Trad man (and family?) that follows the Old Law dietary. He doesn't eat pork, for example.
He also tithes a strict 10%, as far as I know.

In his case, I'd say he's probably just very ignorant and/or simple minded. God will judge of course, but I get the feeling he's innocent of any malicious heresy. He doesn't ever push it on others, for example.
It's also possible that he does so as a special sacrifice for himself since he doesn't condemn others for not doing so.  Unfortunately, this is not what was described in the openning post.

It's like the difference between a person who perpetually abstains from meat and animal products as a sacrifice and a person who "identifies" as a vegan.  One is doing something holy while the other is a pagan.

I find it difficult to hope for the salvation of those men who don't enjoy bacon. :laugh1:

It is the most delicious meat in the world.
No argument there --- there is nothing quite like bacon --- but pork is not the healthiest thing in the world for people to eat.  I have always wondered if that particular aspect of kosher was for health reasons, as you also have to be extra-careful in cooking pork, to get rid of bacteria and parasites.

I stick to beef, pork, chicken, and turkey, though on the rare occasion I will eat goat (Indian restaurants), and I have had venison (a special kind of good), bison, lamb, rabbit (like chicken, but with bones in weird places), and I have probably eaten horsemeat sausage in Europe without knowing it.  I wouldn't have any objection to horsemeat, and I've always wanted to try squirrel, but you can't buy it in stores in the US, and I'm fairly sure I'd get grossed out if I tried to clean them.  You can get it in stores and restaurants in the UK, and I doubt they farm them :jester:

One tells me that the Church did not have the authority to move the day of worshipping God from Saturday to Sunday, so she now honors both days.

Tell her that Christ and the Holy Ghost moved the Sabbath day to Sunday, by 1) Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday and 2) The Holy Ghost's descent upon the Apostles on Pentacost Sunday, which was the "birthday"/start of the Church.
.
What God can begin (i.e. Old Law Sabbath on Saturday), He can change (i.e. New Law Sabbath day on Sunday).  Christ said, "I came not to destroy but to fulfill".  The Sunday sabbath is a fulfillment of the Old Law sabbath.
