Peter (the Pope) remained but without the power of the keys and the crown of papal authority.

The news was reported by the Telegram channel "The Pope's Pearls" : it seemed to be fake, given that no news could be found on the web, but the event has just been confirmed by the Reverend Father Justo Lofeudo, a priest who is certainly a Bergoglian.

There's still something about these pictures that look fake to me.

Is there a link to this Novus Ordo priest's comments?  The Sanctuary's website doesn't seem to be updated since 2020, and I can't seem to find such a priest in Argentina.

I did some research, and I have found the priest's website:

https://padrelofeudo.perlascristianas.com/2020/06/padre-justo-lofeudo-bienvenida.html

He is an Argentine who has lived in Spain for over twenty years. He is some sort of conservative, apparently.

I did not find anything related to this event, but it does not seem completely absurd that he might be aware of events occuring in Buenos Aires.

Possibly.  But where is this "statement" (other than from the one source)?

The priests of the Sanctuary have issued a statement that rejects the symbolic interpretation of the fact, but not the fact itself: “The Sanctuary does not agree with the interpretation that has been given with respect for the damage produced in the image of the apostle Saint Peter.”

 Nothing on official accounts either:

As amusing as it is, I would say that this is fake news.

As amusing as it is, I would say that this is fake news.

FWIW, there was a hurricane-level storm on 17th December that killed over a dozen people. In itself given the date, that's something.

In the video below cued up @ 5:30, a caller claims to have spoken to the secretary at the sanctuary church, who confirmed that the damage to the statue of Saint Peter did happen. Hearsay? Ironclad verification? I don't know. Several Spanish-language anti-Bergoglio blogs have picked up the story but haven't added any new information.

As for the official accounts, lack of evidence does not equal evidence of lack. I'd be more surprised if they hadn't squashed this occurrence since it doesn't play well with the approved narrative. It's a major pilgrimage site since the apparitions were acknowledged in 2016.
