"As I said at the outset, on June 30 1988, Archbishop Lefebvre performed "operation-survival" of Catholic Tradition by consecrating four auxiliary bishops. These bishops, who were quite young at the time, are obviously less so thirty-six years later. Since the ecclesiastical situation has not improved since 1988, it has become necessary to consider giving them assistants, who will one day become their replacements.

When such a decision is announced by the Superior General, we can expect a media frenzy [Rorate note: our emphasis] against the "fundamentalists", the "rebels", the "schismatics", the "disobedient", to name but a few. At that point, we will have to face arguments, insults, scorn, rejection, perhaps even break-ups with people close to us."

Still seems to say they were forced to “consider” It seems like they will seek Rome’s approval and then decide what to do when they say know.

Oh, new-sspx...you mean the same "insults, scorn, rejection" that you hurled at the Resistance, a few years ago.

:laugh1::laugh2::laugh1:  Oh, the irony.  The new-sspx is (philosophically speaking), a court-jester.  No one can take (+Fellay and leadership) seriously.

At least they are giving advance notice and will not perform consecrations in secret. Archbishop Lefebvre did the same prior to 1988.

What if along with the ban of the diocesan TLM the SSPX is given approval from Rome to consecrate bishops and something like a personal prelature is set-up for the SSPX where all of the indult/former ecclesiastical Dei priestly fraternities are eventually consolidated (re-uniting the FSSP with the SSPX for example)?

I know speculation like this has been circulated on this forum for years, but what if this finally happens when people are least suspecting and are ready to go to war with Bergolio over his so-called ban of the TLM?

All of his conservative Novus Ordo critics will praise him for doing this.

Meanwhile they will try to alienate traditional Catholic faithful, priests, bishops, and will call them “schismatics and excommunicated” like +Vigano.

Soon after they can start adding in St. Pope Paul VI feast into a revised “62 missal”.

Hopefully if something like this ever happened the good priests remaining in the SSPX who were always sympathetic to the Resistance but were afraid to leave the structure as well as the faithful will move more strongly in support of the Resistance.
