Keeping it Simple - Why I Do Not Believe in BOD

  • I do not believe in BOD in any shape way or form.  To begin with, God would not put a predestined person in an island and in a time where a person could not baptize them. Then, no one desires baptism without God giving them the grace, no one dies by accident. God would not give the grace to a predestined person, then pull the rug out from underneath them the next moment.

This is what I believe about so-called BOD in all its guises/morphings today:

St. Augustine on the Errors of Pelagius said:
If you wish to be a Catholic, do not venture to believe, to say, or to teach that “they whom the Lord has predestinated for baptism can be snatched away from his predestination, or die before that has been accomplished in them which the Almighty has predestined.” There is in such a dogma more power than I can tell assigned to chances in opposition to the power of God, by the occurrence of which casualties that which He has predestinated is not permitted to come to pass. It is hardly necessary to spend time or earnest words in cautioning the man who takes up with this error against the absolute vortex of confusion into which it will absorb him, when I shall sufficiently meet the case if I briefly warn the prudent man who is ready to receive correction against the threatening mischief. Now these are your words: “We say that some such method as this must be had recourse to in the case of infants who, being predestinated for baptism, are yet, by the failing of this life, hurried away before they are born again in Christ.” Is it then really true that any who have been predestinated to baptism are forestalled before they come to it by the failing of this life? And could God predestinate anything which He either in His foreknowledge saw would not come to pass, or in ignorance knew not that it could not come to pass, either to the frustration of His purpose or the discredit of His foreknowledge? You see how many weighty remarks might be made on this subject; but I am restrained by the fact of having treated on it a little while ago, so that I content myself with this brief and passing admonition.
The Vatican II church - Assisting Souls to Hell Since 1962

For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. Mat 24:24

  • In order for a BOD to be at all feasible, God must be altogether left out of the formula.
In order for a BOD to entirely destroyed, all that is needed is to keep God in the formula.

"There is no one about to die in the state of justification whom God cannot secure Baptism for, and indeed, Baptism of Water. The schemes concerning salvation, I leave to the skeptics." - Fr. Feeney

"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

Indeed, this notion requires you to believe that there are things which can be unkown or unforseen by God, or the there are things in which He is unable to intervene.
How many Christian doctrines and beliefs does that violate or deny?

  • Hey, what are you goys talking about?

    BOD is a great product!

Hugh Hefner go some right before he died.

All those years at the mansion, with the girls... playing backgammon.

He always wanted to be Baptized, but never got around to it.

As he was gasping his last breaths, he probably repented... and got some BOD.

With BOD, he bypassed Purgatory and is doing great!

You just can't beat BOD .
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

    >> Which is heresy.

or the there are things in which He is unable to intervene.

    >> Which is at least proximate to heresy.

    >> All of them.

If we all got what we deserved, we'd all be roasting on "unimaginable" for infinity minutes.

What is it to us that God is generous to laborers showing late in the day?

Do I buy BoD? No, but I think that your commentary could at least use a little polish in order to be more proximate to unassailable.

We make time for what we find truly important.

This "Hef" didn't want to get "pickled" enough to break the surface, from the notional, from the curious, to the actual and real.

It's not a matter of getting what we deserve, but hearing and believing in the Faith and becoming Catholic.

You start through the "Gateway" of a water Baptism.

Hugh the Jєω, heard of the Faith and rejected it.

There's a reason Hollywood Jєωs promote BOD in their films.

Two quick examples: Keys of the Kingdom (1944), There Be Dragons (2011)

BOD fits well into the rebellious (ʝʊdɛօ) protestant mindset, that Christianity is non sacramental and whatever you interpret it to be.

How many times have we heard the Consiliar church is protestant?

If you want to be consoled by wishing your dead relative or friend into Heaven, BOD is the cheap ticket.

Indeed.  MOST BoDers have a completely Protestant ecclesiology.
