  • ...of liturgical abuse.
There was a broadcast of NO this Sunday, and I saw that the "priest" wore a special chasuble for the Year of Faith, with a reddish color instead of green, the actual liturgical color.
Does this mean that the gravest forms of liturgical abuse are entering into Hungary? Or these errors have entered the country earlier? (These type of abuse consist of Kool-Aid, tortilla, "priestesses", etc)

  • Hungary?  Not Hungary!!  I've become a fan of that country!

  • It is obvious that liturgical abuse has already struck Hungary. Do not attend a Novus Ordo mass. Find a Traditional priest (in good standing)!

  • I've heard about other liturgical abuses, like performing "Mass" in a costume, or holding it drunk.

Actually, the new "mass" IS the abuse of the True Mass.

Best to completely avoid the NO at all times and assist only at the TLM - I'm of the opinion that, that is probably about the only way to see that the new "mass" itself IS the abuse of the True Mass.

  • Today, at a NO "Mass", the "priest" wore a chasuble (or alb?) with a palm on it (which wouldn't be a problem, since palms are the symbols of martyrdom), but this palm was more of exotic than sacred (I've seen a toucan on it). Plus, I think that they didn't observe liturgical colours. But there was a thing that is unusual to NO: the Mary and the St. Michael prayer.

A chasuble of the worng color is an abuse, but hardly the gravest form of liturgical abuse.

Perhaps there was a feast celebrated locally for which red was the proper color.  Or perhaps for some odd reason there was no green chasuble available.  I remember as a boy serving a weekday Mass on a martyr's feast day.  For some reason, there was no red chasuble in the sacristy.  The priest was annoyed, but he wore a white chasuble and went on.

  • @Sigismund It was a live broadcast. And I think that a toucan is not for the Church.
Also, I've heard of another weird liturgical abuse from my classmate that the celebrant said: "And now drink the Blood of God".
Plus, I was on a pilgrimage when I got a Confession Manual, which forbade joining into societies that are contrary to the Church, and it mentioned Wizards (The Ancient Hungarian Wizard School, a syncretic shaman cult), then, when I discovered the site, I've seen a little brook accompanied by a hut...
and I saw the logo of the cult encarved in a woodden plate on the ground.

  • Okay, I can see no reason for a toucan on a chasuble.

  • At the NO school, we attended class Masses once a month. The celebrant usually omitted the Creed.

  • Today, I looked at the bulletin of a NO Church and I saw that they're going to hold a Taizé meeting soon. I think that Tradition is going to disappear in my town.

Hasn't it already, if your only 'Catholic' experiences are at the NO (in other words, not a Catholic experience at all)?

Are there not Eastern rites in Hungary?  Intuitively I would think that a viable and plenteous option, though it might not be so.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • There are Eastern Rites there, but somebody cautioned about them, since some may reflect NO. But thanks to school and bad weather (there was snow and cold in March!), I couldn't go to Mass! And not to mention that there is no Mass at Palm Sunday in the nearest Church, only far, far away and in Slovakia.
I could have wings or teleport... but I can't! I'm thinking about ordering a priest, if it doesn't cost money.
