  • If his canonization is valid (which seems to be at least certain), then perhaps this is why:

Perhaps Saints do not need to be perfect!

  • Perhaps not, though they do need to be Catholic.

"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • Is there anything wrong with this man being declared a saint:

"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. • Even Luther had a great devotion to Our Lady, but he hasn't been declared a saint by the Conciliar Church (not yet, anyway; just wait until 2017). Wojtyla was a trained actor - and quite the ham.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • Hey, you forgot to include the picture of him kissing the Koran, wich is certain to be posted in this thread shortly.

I can kiss a buddah or carry a 4 leaf clover too- it means nothing.

Certianly, if jp is in heaven it has zero to do with his management of the RCC which declined and became a laughing stock under his leadership.

  • If only you got to be a saint by kissing statues...

There's more to it that that.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

I'm pretty sure the OP attends the NO exclusively.

No, I attend the Novus Ordo Mass as well as the 1962 Tridentine Mass, the latter whenever possible.  Judge for yourself:

Pope John Paul II had a great devotion to our Lady.  Perhaps Pope John Paul II's canonization is Heaven's way of showing us that the 15 Promises are, in fact, true:

  • Jehanne, I believe you are the victim of some very, very wishful thinking!

JPII asked St. John to bless and protect Islam.  He kissed the Koran.  He prayed to non-Catholic gods publicly.  Speaking of the rosary, he tampered with it.  He appointed and protected pedophiles.

That someone got a nice shot of him slobbering on the Divine Infant's head in the arms of the Blessed Mother isn't exactly the sort of thing that exonerates a public and manifest heresiarch from a life time of leading souls to Hell.  It just isn't.

Also: the fact of JPII's eternal destination is not the only consideration with canonizations.  True, it is a major one, but a canonization is more than merely saying "so and so is in Heaven," it is saying that so and so can be safely emulated in one's journey to Heaven.

Emulate JPII and you'll be in the hot place quicker than you can say "Wojtyla."

I am certainly a sededoubtist, at least a material sededoubtist, but if Pope Francis I is, indeed, a true Pope, then I think that it is a strange use of the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven for him to declare someone to be in Paradise who is, in fact, not there.  So, if Pope John Paul II is really in Heaven, which is life eternal and he, at this very instant, is beholding the Beatific Vision and is in the presence of the One and Triune God seeing and experiencing His very essence and being, then such demands an explanation.  Now, some atheist authors, a long time ago (late 1980s), accused Pope John Paul II of being a "closet traditional Catholic" and tried, in a book, to present evidence of such.  Perhaps JP II was, in fact, a traditional Catholic, at least in his heart.  As for all of his apparent apostasies and/or heresies, then neo-cons can explain all of those, and you haven't far to look for that.

Bingo.  Who says to themselves, "What we really need is some more mysteries in the Holy Rosary !"

Whats next, Francis is going to add another set, the Ecuмenical Mysteries ? Like when our Lord gave the parable of the good Samaritan, when our Lord healed the Centurion's servant, when our Lord drove the money changers out of the temple... oh wait, scratch that last one.
Pray the Holy Rosary every day!!

Even Luther had a great devotion to Our Lady

Maybe at one time, before he fell.  According to 'The Facts about Luther' which is based on that pig's own writing, he was visited by the devil who named various things he hates, including of course the Virgin Mary.  Luther, in his diabolical perversion, saw this as a sign from God, and immediately resolved to ridicule the Church for honoring the Mother of God.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?
