  • That is a twisted representation of Christ's ascension from Hell (i.e. the Apostle's Creed).

  • The chair of St. Peter has been usurped.  Clearly.  But how much proof do people need?  Is monstrously repetitive blatant heresy not enough?  No.  How about deliberately scary set ups like the one above?  No.  How about worshipping with Muslims and Christ murdering Jєωs?  No.  What about Freemasonic hand signals?  Try again.

    What if...

He were to publicly fart really loud on national television and then laugh like a maniac?

Until that happens, I suppose people will feel justified in believing he's just a dumbo bumbling Catholic pope who must be followed.

Maybe you could carefully describe it ?

It is a gigantic wooden carving of a man supposed to be representing Christ. The "Christ" is skinny and looks like a ghoul, and around him there are eldritch wooden carvings of what are either flames or branches -- they look like a multitude of arms and hands reaching up around the "Christ". This is supposed to represent Christ's ascension from the grave.

  • The wooden monstrosity truly is gigantic -- the whole abomination covers a large portion of the room and antipope Benedict XVI looks like a little puppet sitting before it.

  • See here for the explanation as to why we no longer have the ability to call that statue and others like it "ugly".

  • is this that masonic **** the PaulVI Center or something?

That one is ugly as sin, the new place for conclaves?

Is it like all branches and looks like gnarly devil fingers with a distorted defeated supposed to be Our Lord?

It cannot have just vanished, if the statue is so large.

  • I would not say it is blasphemous.

A little background info on the sculpture can be found with a bit of research.

''The Resurrection,'' a statue depicting Jesus rising from a nuclear bomb crater, was created for the new auditorium by Pericle Fazzini.

''Suddenly there came to me the idea of Christ preaching peace for 2,000 years, and the place where He prayed for the last time: the olive grove of Gethsemane, I had the idea of depicting Christ as if He were rising again from the explosion of this large olive grove, peaceful site of His last prayers. Christ rises from this crater torn open by a nuclear bomb; an atrocious explosion, a vortex of violence and energy.''

It dominates the stage of the Vatican hall where the pope's general audiences are held.

Unfortunately, I could find no Hi Res shot, but there are no 'Demons' or 'Hands', or anything remotely resembling a body or human besides that of Christ in the middle.

Perhaps not the most beautiful sculpture, (at least not to myself) but about as proving of heresy as the hole in Benedict's left sock.

(Zoom in close and you'll see it. :laugh1: )

Whatever it is, it isn't Catholic.

What does that imagining have to do with Christianity?

Why would he rise in the middle of an atomic explosion?

The image is grotesque, the idea of Christ rising in a nuclear blast is bizarre.

  • Art is my one area of expertise.

    I beilieve it is blasphemous.

I did not say it is B16's fault, although it does not portray him in the best light.

It is an enormous assault on the heart, it's the triumph of mediocraty(sp) a shrine to masonry, it needs to go into the wood-chipper.  It must make the Holy Angels weep and the devil happy.
