  • Former Catholic Sunday School teacher and Catholic mother of four explains why she converted to the "religion of peace" which seems more and more appealing to Western woman these days than the NewChurch of "nice" that is becoming more shallow and empty every day. These are more of the "fruits" of VII as it kills tradition and are now not only losing souls to heretics and schismatics but outright infidels and pagans. But many woman are looking for something that the "church" these days just don't provide.

    I fear this trend will only get worse;

Former Irish American Sunday school teacher on why she converted to Islam

A former Catholic Sunday school teacher has spoken about why she was moved to convert to Islam.

Cheryl Dacey,  was born into an Irish Catholic family. After meeting some Muslims through her job in New York City, the mother four became interested in their religion and eventually converted to Islam.

“I thought it was totally a foreign type of religion from what I believed in,” Daceyl said in an interview, published on OnIslam.com.

“I didn’t realize that we have the same prophets and that much of the information that we have been taught is actually the same as what Muslims were taught. So I really didn’t know much about Islam.”

A former Sunday school teacher, the New Brunswick resident had a strong Christian faith.

“I believed very strongly in what I believed.”

“I was teaching hundreds of children about Catholicism. That’s why I find it such a miracle that I converted to Islam! People argued to get their children into my Sunday School class!”

Dacey recalls her Muslim friends told her that the same God and the same message came down over and over again to the different prophets.

“What happened I think is truly a miracle. I couldn’t sleep, and I have been given a book by a Sheikh from the Masjid (mosque) who came from Syria, he was just visiting. And the book was entitled “Miracles of the Quran” and I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I had it for two years but I never read it.”

“One day I just picked up the book and I read it. And once I read it I got this really fighting feeling that 'Oh my Gosh, now I know it’s the truth.' I had no choice. And I knew that it was going to be so hard because it’s not really that easy to change your religion. You have to consider your family, how they are going to take it, and it’s very frightening.”

When Dacey converted to Islam, many of her friends and family had mixed responses.

“A lot of them moved away from me,” she said.

“My brothers and sisters took it differently. Some of them accepted it better than others, but nobody gave me a hard time.”

“My mother had a little bit of a hard time every time I tried to tell her she would escape the discussion. She knew, but she was afraid to discuss it. And that was about 3 and half years ago, and today she is happy about it. She said “I’m glad you found a beautiful religion.”

Dacey added: “I haven’t been able to convince her to be a Muslim yet.”

In an bid to get to know more Muslims, Dacey started a program at the Islamic society of Central Jersey called “Muslim by Choice” program.

“I started this program because I as a convert in the Masjid was someone isolated. As loving and wonderful Muslims are, they are a little bit protective too. So when you have no Muslim family, it has to be the Muslim sisters and a brother in the Masjid, but initially it’s hard to be accepted there.”

Dacey says despite the negative image being portrayed in the media about Islam, many women are still accepting of the religion.

“The number of Hispanic Muslims is really climbing,” she said.

“What I think happened sometimes too is focus here in the negativity and they are smarter than that and they say that can’t be right that can’t be true, what they are saying about Muslims can’t be right and this made them go and investigate it.?”

  • This woman did not convert for marriage, but a few years ago I spoke to a priest about this. I've known several women married to men from Islamic countries (who were not Christian) and I can see they type to volunteer at church, teach Sunday School or CCD, be there when the doors were open.

I also think the men value chastity, they look for chaste women to marry, you are going find that more often with conservative families whose kids are active in church.

I hate to group people together but men generally men from those countries usuay appear masculine and traditional and come from a world view with absolute values.

There is some truth to this, most women, regardless what the MSM peddles out there, are not feminist and do not want feminine, men that are morally corrupted with a loose set of values. woman want structure and security with marriage, children a home and all that it entails with it. They are not going to get it with much of this watered-down, liberal version of Christianity and tradtionalism.

And good luck to the decent young men of faith finding a chaste "christian" woman these days, especially in the West.

  • When I read that her mother told her, "I'm glad you found a beautiful religion," I wanted to beat my head against my desk. God preserve all Catholic women from joining that filthy religion. Ireland especially needs our prayers as well.

If all thse N.O. women become Muslim maybe they'll start wearing some clothes.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." • God pulls some blessed souls out of the novus ordo and delivers them to Traditional Catholicism; while other souls are pulled out of the novus ordo and delivered to possible damnation.

    Sad but true.

There's still time for these souls in false religions to return to Christ the King.

    We can only pray.

And continue to carry on the Catholic Faith!

Very true.  Of course they can be damned in the NO and authentic Catholicism as you.  Just wanted to get the obvious on the record.

  • Does anyone else find it a little odd that she is called a "Catholic Sunday School teacher"?  I would not be surprised at a reporter using this phrase, but she uses it herself.  I have never heard of any religious education that takes place in a Catholic church, even if it happens on Sunday, described as Sunday School.  In my experience, only Protestants use that term.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Yes it's either CCD or religious ed. I thought that was off too.

When I was a NO Catholic and taught classes on Sunday, the class was called "Faith Formation", but the other teacher and I referred to ourselves as "Sunday school teachers". I wouldn't say the term has any official use, but it's probably common among the more Protestantized NO churches, such as the one I attended. I'm going to assume the convert-to-Islam's church was pretty bad, if she was not only easily swayed into believing in Islam, but that most of her family was accepting of it as well.

I wonder what would happen if she moved to the Middle East. I'm sure it would make an interesting news article as well.

As I said in an other post, some muslim immigrants say they go after former catholic girls because those girls are pure.
