Guys, don't head down a rabbit hole here with one off examples such as the Jєω soldier. One MUST be baptized to recieve absolution, with water, NO EXCEPTIONS. Sure, maybe person x is given the grace of baptism thru "desire" but he must explicitly desire to be baptised, then maybe, if he's perfectly contrite for his sins then he might save his soul. He would still be ON THE HOOK for ALL the temporal punishment due. I would have a strong doubt that other than sufficient grace, he'd be lacking in efficient grace. In fact, should he neglect to be baptised, he'd loose that soon enough as well. Don't want to get all Feeneyite, suffice to say He CANNOT validly recieve the sacraments. This one is already too long a thread. Just sayin.
