I have a question(?)
« on: March 31, 2021, 11:20:15 PM »
I have a question to ask:

The general thrust of the administration on CI and regular traditional Catholic contributors here, including me (who at one stage was a full-on BW. accuser) is to give Bishop Williamson as much support as possible in spite of his advocacy of Valtorta as well as doctrinal issues such as miracles in the NO yet begging people to stay away.   AND telling them to go if it helps their faith etc. etc.

My question is:
Does it do a lot of harm to the unchanging Truth, Faith and Mass of all Ages prior to Vat.II when Fr. Hewko continues to publicly attack Bishop Williamson when in fact Fr. Hewko himself is doing the same thing? That is - when Fr. Hewko absolutely and single-mindedly preaches the unchanging Truth, Faith and Mass of all Ages.  And when he receives holy oils from Bishop Williamson?

Is it possible that B. Williamson needs this barking at his heels? Or is it damaging what Fr. Hewko, himself, is trying to achieve namely to restore all things in Christ?

In the loose federation to a man the priests are:

  • ordained in the old rite therefore true priests
  • they all say the Mass of all ages
  • they are true to doctrine and doctrinal issues prior to Vat.II council
  • they all speak against Vat.II

I may not have posed the question very well, so if clarification is needed I will do my best.

Being but an ordinary garden-type lay woman I beg that answers be purely objective PLEASE!

I'm not sure that I understand the question completely but I would say that Catholics, by definition, worship the Truth. Covering up error almost always causes more damage in the long term. The day to day reality on Earth is that people, even clergy, are a mixed bag. Where exactly to draw the line and cut ties is often a difficult question.

Thank you for your comment Emile.

The thrust of my question is that when Fr. Hewko keeps attacking B.Williamson (possibly for the right reasons?) it divides Catholics who by definition, worship the Truth.
He seems to me to be barking at the ambiguities in calling +B.W a modernist.  (I know of this from personal correspondence received).  I do not believe for a minte that +B.W is a modernist but sometimes he seems very mixed up as outlined in OP. and needs correcting.   On the other hand, Fr. Hewko keeps himself separated from the loose federation who all have the same purpose as himself - the restoration of Christ the King.

Thank you for the clarification Donkath. I've not listened to anything from Fr. Hewko for some time. What I recall of him is from when he was involved with Fr. Pfeiffer. What I remember is that both of them seemed to spend an unnecessary amount of time attacking others.

It is necessary to point out error, to warn the faithful of danger, and name names. But there's no need to spend an inordinate amount of time doing so, especially when you are preaching to people of good will. I've found that when all someone has to offer is "at least I'm not that guy", it's best to stay away.

We are here to know, love, and serve God. That's an infinite subject to plumb the depths of. I look for those that can help me do that, not the ones that will hinder.

I don't know if that answers your question or if there's anything worthwhile in what I have written above, but I pray there is something of help for you in it.

What concerns me is that the number of novus ordo Catholics who follow and admire Francis Bergoglio is drowning out the Truth about Christ and thus in danger of losing their souls because Pope Francis blesses the committing of sin.  I am wondering if Fr. Hewko is right in having no truck with Novus Ordo souls in that he appears to concentrate solely on traditional pre-VaticanII Catholics (like moi) and their offspring.  Or is it preferable for the salvation of Novus Ordo souls that B. Williamson continues to make concessions in advising them to do what helps their faith?
