  • A while back there was talke of a revised "1962 Missal" that would incorporate some of the Novus Ordo prefaces and saints, specifically allow Mass at a Cranmer's table, and specifically allow the Epistle and Gospel to be read only in the vernacular language.

Most people talking about those changes suggested first Sunday of Advent to be when the new Missal would be promulgated.

So....I've not heard that anything happened.  Was this all a false alarm or was implementation scheduled for another time (e.g., Lent or Easter)?

  • I haven't heard anything either. Maybe it was delayed?
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Isn't it in fact called the 2012 or 2013 Missal? due out in Spring 2013, I seem to recall reading someone in the not too distant past.

If you've read that it was due to come out in the spring of 2013, then I suppose it will be introduced at Easter time.

But everything that I've read so far seems to indicate that it will most definitively not be called the 2012 or 2013 missal and that it will continue to be called the 1962 missal, though it will probably be called the new 1962 missal or something like that.  It seems that they want to carry on the fiction that it is the 1962 missal in order to allow people to believe that "nothing has changed".

In any event, I guess we will see when we will see.  All I know for sure, at present, is that no new missal was introduced on the first Sunday of Advent in 2012.
