  • That is my question. How many traditional Catholics are there in the world today?
And a related question. How many sedevacantists are there in the world today?
I could guess but I do not know the answers.

  • About 10 years ago I thought there were a million traditionalists and 1000 SVs.  I could be way off.  This is an interesting question which I'm sure has an interesting answer.  Now add to that all who left the Church in 60' and 70's (clergy, nuns, laity) because of the changes and their children and the number swells of course.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." • Since I stared this thread I will give my guess but it is only a guess.
I would guess there are about a million trads and about 10,000 SVs.
I know in my city of 8 million there are only a few hundred trads (based on the attendance at the local trad Masses including the indults.)

I think that sounds accurate.  I was off by a 0 in both counts.

  • Q:  How many traditional Catholics does it take to change a light bulb?

A:  Change?  Why would we change anything, you heretic!

  • When I was isolated in conciliardom, I would have guessed that maybe there were 1,000 - 5,000 traditionalists in the world (made up mainly of folks lost in conciliardom as I didn't know about more fully traditional groups back then).  Now I suppose 1M sounds about right.  I would guess there are 10,000 - 25,000 sedevacantists (maybe double to triple that number counting those who think the situation is quite possibly SV though not sure in their minds).

  • One thing I wonder about is the reach of the Dimond brothers. They get a lot of traffic on their site. There are probably people all over the world who have no Mass to go to but consider themselves sedevacantists because they follow the Dimond's website.

    According to the Feeneyite Dimonds.

That sounds right.  But the Dimonds, I think, say it is okay to go to una cuм heretic/apostate Masses.

  • I believed that the Dimonds went to an Eastern Rite Mass, standing outside without habit until it was time for Communion which they would receive.  I have had this verified by a reliable source.  But what has also been verified is that they no longer do this.

I have not followed them for ages.  It seems they mention this fact on a video on Salza/Siscoe.  I can not watch this video at work.  Do they actually mention why they have changed their actions or do they simply deny doing it (with the implication that they never do this).

  • Judging from the numbers of Trad traffic that I see online from different sources (YouTube, Facebook, the various blogs and forums), I'd hazard to guess that the number is in the ten thousands.

    Sedes?  Less.

    According to the Feeneyite Dimonds.

    1) the Dimonds are not "Feeneyites" as they disagree with Father Feeney on a number of points.

    2) this attitude of theirs comes not as a result of their "Feeneyism" but from their dogmatic sedevacantism.  99% of Feeneyites are not even sedevacantists, much less dogmatic ones.

So nice try on smearing "Feeneyites" when the criticism rightly pertains to sedevacantism instead.

  • Probably 30,000 if you count France. There's a lot of Traditionalists in the French far-right and a big SSPX presence.

  • According to the Vatican's Statistical Yearbook of the Church, the Catholic Church's worldwide recorded membership at the end of 2005 was 1,114,966,000.[61] Estimates of the number of traditionalist Catholics vary. Catholic World News reported that "the Vatican" estimated the number of those served by the Fraternity of St Peter, the Society of St Pius X and similar groups at "close to 1 million".[62] Various sources estimate the adherents of the Society of St Pius X alone at 1 million.

We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...
