No matter how much evidence I give people showing God demanding we work out our salvation, most of them tell me salvation is a free gift and all they have to do is believe in Jesus to be saved. These people say they believe the Bible but always conveniently find a way to avoid many Bible passages they don't seem to like.

Many people believe us Traditional Catholics will end up in the deepest pit of Hell for not accepting what they claim is the free gift of salvation even though it is written in the Bible that a person is vain and their faith without works is dead.

The faith is so distant from so many people, all it seems we can do for them is Pray .
"I Think it is Time Cathinfo Has a Public Profession of Belief." "Thank you for publicly affirming the necessity of believing, without innovations, all Infallibly Defined Dogmas of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church."

  • There whole belief system is one of presumption.

I don't know how to convert protestants except maybe to invite them to Mass if they are willing to go.

Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • It is because their hearts are hardened.  Consider Moses and the Pharaoh.  Even after nine plagues, Pharaoh still was not willing to do God's will.  Such are most men of today.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

I have got some of them in the corner by asking them if they will become Catholic if they see historical evidence Jesus founded only one Church and that Church is Catholic. They very quickly say, "NO!".

The sad part is, these people still call themselves Christians while at the same time claiming those of us who do good works end up in the deepest pit of Hell.

  • From what I gather, Protestants believe that when Christ died on the Cross, he died for all sins and so protestants believe there is no need for confession and all they have to do is say, "I believe" and that is it.  They don't understand why catholics continue to crucify Christ on our altars.

So, Christ died, shed blood, to open the gates of heaven, there is a difference between Salvation and Redemption.  We have been redeemed, won back.  Salvation is the power of the Precious Blood in all the sacraments.  We sin and we need the Precious Blood.

    Protestants do not understand this.

  • Anyone who answers "no!" when you ask them if they would become Catholic if they knew it was the only Church that Christ founded is in dire danger of Hell.

The fact is that 95% or better of protestants are ignorant of general history and anything that happened after St. Paul in Church history.

What you need to do is live a penitential life openly and faithfully. Study or at least read thoroughly the writings of the Church Fathers. Get to know St. Augustine's writings well; the protestants who think they know early Church history love to misquote and prooftext with St. Augustine.

Don't try to prove the Faith or the lineage of the Church from history; instead, simply live your life of mortification and faith and take opportunities to explain the Faith as questions or comments arise. Place Scripture where it belongs; as the most important books in a vast spiritual library, indeed, by far more important than other books, but PART of the Church's rightful possession.

In short, make your life like a delicious meal that you make ready for those who are hungry. One day, they may ask you for the recipe.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

How true!  I was at a talk given by a well known educator who is Protestant, Dr. David Mackey.  He made reference in one of his conferences, to "the first educators to reach India with the Gospel in the early 1800s"!  Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to speak with him, else I'd have asked him about St. Thomas!!!  He was probably just parroting what he'd learned from his Protestant professors.  Granted, his doctorate is in educational theory, not Church history, but one doesn't need an advanced degree to know the error of his statement.  When I raised the issue with several of my Protestant colleagues, they thought he meant to refer to modern times only.  But it was obvious not one of my four colleagues knew that St. Thomas, or, the Apostle Thomas, as they'd call him, had ever been to India!  All of them have degrees from "Christian" colleges.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • The very best advice I can give is, NOT to ask them to become Catholic at all, but to ask them to say a little prayer each day that they will die united to the Church that Christ founded.

If they say, well I am already united to my Protestant belief, don't argue with them, just say, well okay then, just pray daily that you will be united to Christ's Church at the moment of your death and you will not fall away.

If they agree to pray this little pray, that will only take seconds to pray, God will hear their request and work a miracle of grace at His perfect timing.
    Please pray for my soul.

Good advise, however, I'd tweek that to say to them, "Pray to God that He never allow you to be confounded", (and end up like the 5 virgins outside the wedding).

I'd steer away for mentioning "being united to the Church that God founded", since all baptized Catholics are "united", but few will be saved. It sounds too Novus Ordo. Like calling oneself pro-life instead of anti-abortionist.

I'm talking about Protestants that have no ears to hear.

  • St. Paul says, in their own translation, "Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling." (Phil 2:12)

So how can they realistically avoid that conclusion? Protestants need to be told they need to repent of their sins, recant their errors and return to the Catholic Church. Only in her can they share in life and salvation, through the sacraments Our Lord instituted.

Point out the places where Christ speaks plainly of the great truths of the Faith that they still deny. Example, the Holy Eucharist in St. John 6.

John 6:50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” 52 Then the Jєωs began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”
"Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day become a formal heretic ... This is a statement I would sign in my blood." St. Montfort, Secret of the Rosary. I support the FSSP, the SSPX and other priests who work for the restoration of doctrinal orthodoxy and liturgical orthopraxis in the Church. I accept Vatican II if interpreted in the light of Tradition and canonisations as an infallible declaration that a person is in Heaven. Sedevacantism is schismatic and Ecclesiavacantism is heretical.
