What about when it’s the clergy who refuse the Sacraments to the faithful who’d otherwise receive them? Sure, they probably won’t prohibit them from attending Mass, but if it means they cannot receive the Sacraments, it’s just as if they aren’t Catholic!
What, too, of those whose life situation prevents them from “driving three hours” or from moving? Some, cannot drive six hours and hear Mass in one day. Some do not drive and public transportation in the US is nonexistent outside of a few major cities.
For others, the finances are prohibitive. For example, if I wanted to hear Mass at my first choice of chapel, between tolls and 1 1/2 tanks of gas, it would cost approximately $130. That’s not including the collection, a pit stop, any incidental expenses.
There are many who are unwillingly Home Alone, which is what I’d be if I didn’t go where I differ from the official “position.”
