  • Simple out is to redefine the Church and to redefine the expression "outside the Church".  Obviously, however, none of the Church Fathers cited had any such novelty in mind, but that doesn't stop the modernists.

An infallibly defined teaching is now heresy?

Why is this so shocking?  Even the BoDers here on CI tell us that we're heretics for believing in EENS, i.e. that if by EENS we don't understand the opposite of EENS (the true interpretation of the Church they claim), then we are heretics.

You know full well that we all believe in EENS, as all Catholics must.  No one has ever accused you or anyone on here of heresy for believing EENS.

EENS is a dogma of the Faith, it is de fide.  All Catholics must believe it under pain of heresy.

Baptism of Desire is also de fide.  All Catholics must believe it under pain of heresy.

You and all like you on here profess heresy by denying Baptism of Desire.

I know no such thing.  I recall one of you posting an article that talks about EENS, but how it must be properly understood and correctly interpreted, and by the end of this article, the dogma means the OPPOSITE of EENS (when correctly interpreted) so that those of us who take it at face value were denounced as heretics.

    Quite diabolical, really.

Thanks for the quotes from the Popes.  I printed them out to show the Catholics who tell me that there is salvation outside the Church.

Your welcome Phyllo. I am very glad that you took the initiative to show your Catholic friends this very important teaching. I think it is a very holy cause to teach other Catholics who are ignorant of the dogma, outside the Church there is no salvation. I myself do the same thing and hand out tracts to friends that show the Church's teaching on salvation. It is worth it if they start praying and doing sacrifices for the conversion of people they know outside the Church. It also can serve as motivation for one to learn apologetics.

I would recommend buying these "Only Way to Heaven" pamphlets and give them to your friends http://store.catholicism.org/only-way-to-heaven.html They are only $4.00 for 100 tracts.

    God Bless.

EENS is an abbreviation for Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus - latin for Outside the Church there is No Salvation

BOD = Baptism of Desire. There are some here who believe BOD is only a theological speculation and not official Church teaching, some who even think BOD is heretical. I myself believe BOD for catechumens is orthodox teaching. I just think it is bad when liberals apply it to members of false religions. I personally wouldn't get too caught up in these debates.

I would recommend just focusing on getting a Douay Rheims Bible and a pre Vatican 2 Catechism, like the Catechism of the Council of Trent. Unfortunately many modern translations of the Bible were done by enemies of God and contain errors and bad commentary. Most new Catechisms have some problems as well.

    Thanks again.

I have both of the recommended books.  I should spend sometime reading the catechism of Trent.  I have some problems with the CCC.

I am glad to have found this site.  I enjoy mostly reading and sometime posting on this site without the fear of being banned.  I feel as though I have free speech here.  I am of the same opinion as many on this forum.
