Heresy Of Fr Feeney?

  • I have read several books by Fr Feeney and also Catherine Goddard Clarkes book Loyola's And Cabots about the conflict around the St Benedict center in the early 1950's. Apparently the St Benedict Center is heretical at this point( 2008).
FR Feeney's works I have always found inspirational and my understanding is the St Benedict conflict was about asking Rome for a declaration of the Dogmatic Article of Faith re: there is no salvation outside the Infallible Constitution of Holy Chuch.

It should be noted here that in this respect, the teaching is no different that that of Judaics( only they are chosen) and Moslems( all others are infidels) etc.

IMO the charge of heresy put upon Fr Feeney was just a Cecilian fαℓѕє fℓαg op to distract from the fact that Rome would not comply with a simple request to reiterate a dogma as old as the Church itself.

There is suppose to be a book Sequal To The Boston Heresy Case( I think) by Potter Gary. St Benedict Center had it on the site listed for sale at one time but never seemed to actually have a copy.

  • My understanding is that the St. Benedict Center wanted the doctrine of Baptism of Desire to be condemned.

  • It would be very helpful to find a copy of Gary Potter's book. I think the name of it is Aftermath Of the Boston Heresy case.

  • Did the St Benedict Center want the doctrine condemned before or after Fr Feeney?

  • Stephanos -- you post all too many links, and for all I know that "network of 20 blogs" belongs to you.

Please advertise your sites somewhere else. If you want to contribute to this forum, you're welcome to. But please don't use this forum as free advertising to establish your own fame.

Posting a link once in a while is one thing -- but you post links to different blogs -- which all belong the same person -- almost every day.

  • Whatever Stephanos crimes  on this site , I would pretty much agree with the opinion that Fr Feeney was a modern day Athanasius.

  • I have finished reading Mr Potter's book and can find no heresy that Fr Feeney was guilty of and his alleged ex-communication is probably a fraud also.

Does anyone know how to contact mr Potter? He does not understand the Galileo case.

  • The author tends to absolve Pius XII of any association with Modernism. He cites the Pope issuing Humani Generis which condems those who ..." reduce to a meaningless formula the necessity of belonging to the True Church in order to gain salvation". This was what Fr Feeney was trying to correct at Harvard.
