Help me figure out how to read Konderla

  • I just finished reading Okie Trad's latest post about a man who was turned down for exorcism here in Tulsa, now that Fr. Ripperger's order is gone.

Upon reflecting on it, I decided to listen to a recent homily that Bishop Konderla gave in Collinsville.  I cannot decide what to think of it.  I suppose that my initial impression of this homily is that it is nebulous and irrelevant.  It has a ho hum message, and he talks to the congregation like they're children.  Towards the end of the homily, he throws in a sentence supporting illegal immigrants.  I can imagine him pacing back and forth on the stage sanctuary as he's saying the whole thing.

Are there folks here who can contribute and help me discern the nature of this man that I am hearing?  What kind of a man am I listening to when I hear this?  Am I simply being too harsh?

I read a comment stating that "this man is a living saint."  On what grounds is this statement based upon?  I just don't get it.

  • I listened to the first 20 seconds or so.

What kind of a man are you listening to? The answer, is a Novus Ordo inspired man. They all have the same message though spoken differently, they all lead away from God.

  • A warning about Konderla, as I reside in his former diocese. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. His pablum, as you rightly discerned, was once fed to the college students he (mis)served. I have friends in Tulsa. When I read he was being sent there, I felt a great disturbance in my soul. His former bishop has done everything in his power to subjugate the traddies and the Latin Mass. I am one of his victims.

May the Lord have mercy on us.

Edited to add, I will not listen to his dribble, as I do not like to listen to satan-inspired wolves.

You've told me this before, but what do you mean?  He was a college chaplin down there in Austin.  Not a bishop.  He had only the power over his own parish.  How in the world could Konderla possibly have had any power to subjugate trads and the Latin Mass?  Was it just in his own parish that he did this, and if so, what actions did he take against it?

I'm all for recounting his past conduct.  But I objectively need some concrete proof--concrete accounts--of what, exactly, took place.

The climate here is to 'encourage' Traddies to assist at the indult Mass only, which is at the cathedral. They are not welcomed in any other parish. The priests and deacons make sure of that. This comes from the bishop. There was a rogue priest who was attempting to help establish a Latin Mass (St. Joseph parish in Rockdale) due to interest from parish members and he was transferred out. This is also happening in San Antonio, where I also have friends. We meet there at St. Pius X but there was a trad community that was growing at the Mission of Divine Mercy in the San Antonio diocese was dispersed when the bishop sent the priest away. He was the former Father Moses of Jesus Pillari, now Father Anthony Pillari. I was there at the mission the day it was announced.

So far, it sounds as if you're implicating the bad environment that produced Konderla.  Which is fine.

But I'd like to know more detail.

For example, do you have examples of these "encouragements" for Trads?

  • What kind of a man? Are you serious? What "bishop" or priest for that matter commences a serious sermon (?homily) with Howdy! Sickeningly sweet syrupy stuff.

  • Good on those in the congregation who refused to respond to his, "Howdy".  I can't stand that stuff.

He sounds a little like comedian Norm McDonald.  Very similar vocal cadence.

His homily was a forgettable pile of modernist tripe and banality.  He seems to be a slightly more refined version of the novus ordo priests in my diocese who were formed in the 70s/80s.  They're performers and/or comedians during the liturgy, and they can't say two complete sentences without some mention of "luv".

I live two hours from Tulsa.  That bishop will destroy whatever was left of the Catholic faith in eastern Oklahoma.
