  • I am trying to find a copy of a book written by Arnaldo Xavier Da Silveira, published in 1975. It is a study of the Novus Ordo Mass and compares it with various protestant services. I need it for a college student who is writing a paper on the Novus Ordo.

The book was originally published in Portuguese and was translated into French and English (and probably other languages). I am looking for a copy in either English or French.

French title:   La nouvelle messe de Paul VI, qu'en penser ?[/i]
                         or
L'ordo missae de Paul VI, qu'en penser ?[/i]

English title:  Theological and Moral Implications of the New Ordo Missae[/i]

I have checked on WorldCat and only 3 libraries in France have it. I'm in the US, so that's no help. And I've searched all the used book vendors with no results.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, especially any libraries that might lend it.

    Thank you.

  • go to CMRI web site and the Priests Radecki brothers.  They have done a lot of writings of the history of the church and should be helpful.  They compared the New Order Mass(mess) to being similar to Calvinism.

  • Hey, a copy in Italian is better that nothing. Thank you.

I appreciate the Google Translate version, but one should never rely on GT. The translations from French to English I've read are an amazing source for laughter and puzzlement. :confused1:

It would be great if someone could turn up a copy in French.

  • It is amazing what happens when we ask each other for help.

I have been supplied with both an English and a French version of this out-of-print work. :reading:

"Ask and it shall be given unto you."

Many thanks to those who responded.

Before writing Work of Human Hands: A Theological Critique of the Mass of Paul VI, Fr. Cekada wanted to translate Da Silveira's La nouvelle messe de Paul VI, but, as he said on p. XIX, the author, apparently affiliated with TFP, won't release the rights.
