Title: Google considers Benedict the pope?
Post by: epiphany on July 03, 2022, 01:09:56 PM
Noticing how short pope Francis is compared to Musk in the recent photo of them, I was curious the pope's height.  So, I Google: "how tall is the pope?"

What was interesting was the result: Benedict is 5'7".

See photo attached.

Interestingly, I looked it up and found that Bergoglio is listed at 5'7", while Musk says he's 6'2".  One of those numbers is clearly wrong, since Musk towers over Bergoglio by at least 8-10 inches in that picture.  Must tweeted out his height at 6'2" and I suspect that it's accurate.  I'd put Bergoglio at no more than 5'4".

Here's the difference between 6'2" (Lavrov) and 5'7" (Putin)

Looks like Musk is standing in front of the pope.  That might account for the discrepancy.

Maybe by 6 inches, not enough to account for that much of a height difference.  Old people do shrink as they age (my parents both did).  Bergoglio can't be taller than 5'4".

Pope Francis Height
5ft 7 ½ (171.5 cm)
Peak height was 5ft 9 (175.3 cm)
Jorge Mario Bergoglio is the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church. On his NY Id card he had his height listed as 5 feet 9 inches (https://imgur.com/a/MNABe).

I'd say he's shrunk quite quickly.

Maybe he's hunching.  What difference does it make?

Perhaps he sometimes  wears high heels under his white skirt to appear taller.  :laugh1:

This is disrespectful.
Secondly, it's called a cassock, not a skirt.

I give respect where it is deserved. This man has been extremely disrespectful to the Church, to the true faithful - the followers of Catholic Tradition, and to God.

Actually, Epiphany,  I meant it only as a joke,  I didn't even mean it as disrespect, but if you or anyone else was offended by it, I apologise.

I know you did.
I have a hard time joking about clergy, monks or nuns.  They deserve our respect no matter what.  That is not to say we cannot point out their fallacies, errors, false teachings, etc.
