2V, yes it was +W who made the comment this week. There was a link to the conference posted in another thread. The context may be heard there, I believe. It was a quick aside, since he'd not had time to investigate it. When I came across the article posted, it seemed to fit HE's brief reference.
Actually, the more likely scenario is that his handlers told him him to step down after he failed to absorb SSPX (that was his mission in feigning to be a conservative, speaking Latin, being God's rottweiler and all). When he failed, they told him to step aside so they could introduce Jorge.
Ladislaus, wouldn't that be considered a duress factor? A pope strong armed into "resignation" under any circuмstance would make the abdication null, n'est ce pas?
Regardless of how distasteful the pope, the article is very disturbing.
