Funny names that Trad Catholics are called

  • I was just reading an article in the most recent copy of the Catholic Family News entitled "7th Dolor: The Burial" which is a very good piece of writing but I was struck by something that I thought was very funny.
The article lists a bunch of names that people call traditional Catholics, most of which I have never heard before, here is the quote:

"Traditional Catholics just trying to "keep the faith" have been insulted with dozens of derogatory names in recent years, including:

    rigid,
    self-absorbed,
    neo-Pelagians,
    modern Gnostics,
    slaves of superficiality,
    museum mummies,
    pickle-pepper-faced,
    elitists,
    little holy cards,
    starched Christians,
    peacock Christians
    and
    funeral faces"

I don't know where they got these names from but I would probably fall on the fall laughing if someone ever called me any them.

  • Be careful with that "rigid" label. It is often used by Novus Ordo Catholics who are psychologists and social workers to label Traditional Catholics as mentally ill. This is no laughing matter.

One of my friends and several of his classmates were dismissed from a Novus Ordo Los Angeles seminary with that rigid label. A nun who was in charge of the seminarians told them that they would never make good priests because they preferred to spend any extra time in the chapel praying the rosary. They also preferred to wear cassocks. In addition, the nun was appalled that these men believed that homosexuality was a disorder (as stated in the CCC).

    That peacock label is funny.
    Lord have mercy.

  • A lady in the homeschool group told me that traditional Catholics are nothing but "Latin Protestants."

Gee, I'd be devastated if some leisure suit lezbo said that to me; no, really...

"Happy now? Sr. Polly Ester is locked in her room, sucking up sage smoke and listening to the 'Indigo Girls'. She'll be in there for days you medievalist relic!"
    "Lord, have mercy".

If you're referring to St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, there are a lot of stories about that place. It's popularly known as the pink palace. Any applicant who wants to enter St. John's needs to know that he has to give a positive impression of his attitude toward Sodomites (but don't call them that). Reason being that unless an applicant has no problem being around other students who are consumed with the unnatural vice (but they don't call them that) they will be disqualified from eligibility based on their "lack of pastoral sensitivity." Effectively one need not apply if he is not homosexual or at least favorable toward other homosexuals.

Generally some other reason is given for why they're being expelled. I knew of a man kicked out who said he and several of his classmates were sent packing, with the official reasons given that they had been disrespectful to superiors, or habitually tardy, or refused to follow the dress code, or had excessive absences, to name a few. However, the real reasons he said were of three main unforgivable categories: 1) caught praying the Rosary, 2) Studying Latin, 3) Learning or reading the prayers of the Traditional Latin Mass. He assured me these real reasons were never made part of the official record, and some unrelated reason was used in the record instead, as above.
    .
He said when they identify a new seminarian as one being too much traditionally inclined, they started a surveillance schedule directed to building a case against them so they could be expelled at a later time.

This ex-seminarian from St. John's Seminary in Camarillo was given the rigid label when he was caught praying the Rosary, studying Latin, and reading the Latin Missal. He ended up getting married and joining other Catholics who attended the Latin Mass. I loss track of him.
Yes, they try to prevent these good men from entering any other seminary.
    Lord have mercy.

  • I've been called these two names right here from fellow Trads during a disagreement "neo-Pelagians,
modern Gnostics", that one "little holy card" is kinda cute.
