He met with this person in private. He didn't go after the priest in the parish in question. What do you think he said? Sometimes we have to let some things go. Why should we be upset? Do you think that maybe because we haven't done what we think this person has done that we are particularly holier than her? Maybe he heard her confession. Such a person probably needed to go to confession. Sometimes I think people make mountains out of molehills.
Um do you realize that this individual is a public notorious sinner?
Do you realize that his/her priest is
morally obligated to tell this person to repent otherwise they will burn in hell for all eternity? And that this extends to any cleric who meets with them and knows about this sin? Including the bishop of Rome?
A public sinner like that requires a public rebuke. And yes it's humiliating.
Otherwise, by remaining silent, it looks like Pope Francis is condoning sins of mutilation.
