  • I am surprised that nobody else has already posted this here.  It seems that Bergoglio is being accredited with performing a miracle.  Oh the agony.  Get ready for fast-track sainthood for the media's #1 pontiff. This is worse than the nobel peace prize for Obama.  Let's take a look at one of the interesting stories reported by the media...

    Quote from: the beloved media

Pope Francis performs 'half-miracle' after dry blood of saint liquifies in his presence

POPE Francis has been credited with performing a "half-miracle" after the blood of a saint hundreds of years old liquified in his presence.

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/565949/Pope-Francis-miracle-St-Gennaro-Naples-dry-blood-liquified-Catholic-Church

Pope Francis has been credited with performing a miracle
During a mass in Naples the 78-year-old was given a vial of dried blood of St. Gennaro, the Italian city's patron saint who died in the fourth century.

After the 266th pontiff kissed the sealed glass ampoule it incredibly began to turn into liquid.

Cardinal Crescenzo Sepe declared to a cheering crowd that watched the moment that Pope Francis had performed a miracle.

The dried blood of a saint liquified in the prescence of Pope Francis
The bishop said the blood is only half liquefied. It appears the saint only loves us half-way
    Pope Francis
He said: "It is the sign that St. Gennaro loves Pope Francis: half of the blood turned to liquid."

The Argentine leader of the Catholic Church seemed surprise by the cardinal's announcement and took hold of the microphone afterwards to make a joke.

The pontiff said: "The bishop said the blood is only half liquefied. It appears the saint only loves us half-way.

"We have to convert ourselves (to good) more so he loves us more."

Catholics believe the "miracle" of St. Gennaro can occur three times a year on certain regular feast days.

Pope Francis with Cardinal Crescenzo SepeAP
The last time the blood of St. Gennaro liquified in a papal prescence was in 1848
However, they feel this will only occur if they pray enough after it is taken out of a vault and put on display.

The ritual of the liquefying blood dates back to the 14th century.

The last time the blood turned into liquid in the papal presence was 1848 when it did so in front of Pope Pius IX.

Sceptics believe the "miracle" is due to chemicals present in the ampoule that make the viscosity of the blood change when it is moved.

This happened on Saturday when it was removed from the vault for the pope's visit.

Please somebody, put an end to this post-conciliar madness.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

  • I can just hear the ultramontanist neocath chorus coming this October:

"Yes, the new decrees approving adulterous remarriage and concubinage and celebration of 'ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ orientations' are a bit surprising, but they cannot be apostasy; after all Francis the Great performed a miracle earlier this year! That proves that this is the will of the God of Surprises! Get with the program you self-absorbed Promethean neo-Pelagians!"

  • 1) I wouldn't put it past Cardinal Sepe to make this up.

    2) If there was some liquefication, the interpretation of what that means remains open.  Last time this happened for a Pope was in 1848.  1848 was that year that the Masonic revolutions started up in Europe.  And, until 1848, Pius IX had been pandering to the Masons and liberals; they considered him one of their own.

    3) No one really knows why the blood liquefies.  There are apparently over a dozen other vials of martyrs' blood in Naples that do the same thing.  While the blood of St. Januarius has never been directly tested, scientists were able to liquefy the blood alleged to be of another saint by gently warming it with a hair dryer or else by shaking it a little.  This could mean nothing more than that the blood is incorrupt, tends to stay in a solid form, but can liquefy when warmed up (by lights or handling when on public display) or shaken.  And we know that Francis emits significant quantities of hot air; in addition, there would have been intense lights there due to his celebrity.  Linking non-liquefaction to impending doom is just a pious superstition; there was a year when the blood liquefied and yet Vesuvius erupted, killing nearly 20,000 people.

    Quote
In 2010, an experiment was conducted by Giuseppe Geraci (Professor of the Department of Molecular Biology of the Università Federico II di Napoli) on a phial containing old blood (a relic dating back to the 18th century from the Eremo di Camaldoli, near Arezzo, in Tuscany) having the same characteristics of the blood of St. Januarius. Geraci has shown that the Camaldoli's relic actually contains blood that can change its solid-liquid phase by shaking. He has also reproduced the phenomenon with his own blood stored in the same conditions of the Camaldoli's relic.

  • This is actually last weeks news.  I believe there is a story debunking it as a miracle that it happens every year at this time and Francis just arrived at the time that it always happens....

It’s a Miracle! Vatican Claims Coagulated “Blood” of St. Gennaro Liquefies After Pope Francis Kisses the Vial
March 22, 2015 by Terry Firma 95 Comments
The Catholic network Aleteia is named after the Greek word for truth, so this report must be totally truthful:
The blood relic of St. Gennaro [a.k.a. Januarius], patron saint of Naples, [yesterday] miraculously liquefied in the presence of Pope Francis, the first time the miracle has occurred in the presence of a pontiff since 1848.
“His blood has half-liquefied,” the Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, said at the conclusion of Pope Francis’ address to diocesan priest and religious in the city’s cathedral. “It’s a sign that St. Gennaro loves the Pope, who is neapolitan like us.”

Half-liquefied? Was it only a half-miracle, then? Not to these folks:
As Cardinal Sepe … announced the miracle, in the adjacent streets people could be heard shouting with neapolitan passion: “It’s a miracle, it’s a miracle!” …
The dried blood of St. Gennaro, which is preserved in two glass phials in the Naples Cathedral, traditionally liquefies three times a year: on the saint’s September 19 feast, which commemorates his martyrdom in the Catholic liturgical calendar; December 16, the date of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 1631, which was believed to have been halted through the saint’s intervention; and the Saturday before the first Sunday in May.
Wait — St. Gennaro halted the 1631 eruption of Vesuvius? The one in which up to 6,000 people perished? That’s one helluva redefinition of success!
But if you’re a believer, it’s skeptics who have taken leave of their senses. The 18th-century bishop Alphonsus Maria de’ Liguori wrote that the blood miracle was evident to everyone:
The most stupendous miracle, and that which is greatly celebrated in the church, is the liquefying and boiling up of this blessed martyr’s blood whenever the vials are brought in sight of his head. This miracle is renewed many times in the year, in presence of all who desire to witness it; yet some heretics have endeavored to throw a doubt upon its genuineness, by frivolous and incoherent explanations; but no one can deny the effect to be miraculous, unless he be prepared to question the evidence of his senses.”
The Catholic Church could lay all doubts to rest by allowing independent scientists to examine the creepy substance, starting with a chemical analysis to see if it even is blood. But alas:
[The Church] has not allowed independent tests on the phials containing the blood.
Such suspicion-raising reticence has given rise to an obvious conclusion: that the whole thing is just a pious hoax. This is how it could be done:
In 1991 a group of Italian scientists — Luigi Garlaschelli and two colleagues, Franco Ramaccini and Sergio Della Sala — demonstrated that they could simulate the effect with a thixotropic gel, a substance that liquefies when agitated and resolidifies when allowed to stand.
[At] about the same time, two American researchers — forensic analyst John F. Fischer and paranormal investigator Joe Nickell — showed they could reproduce a liquefying and recongealing miracle blood using a colored oil-and-wax mixture. When slightly warmed by heat sources such as nearby candles and body heat, the bogus blood can suddenly liquefy. Nickell and Fischer jokingly attribute their phenomenon to “Saint Februarius.” …
Adding to skeptics’ suspicions, there are some twenty other saints’ bloods that liquefy, virtually every one of them from the Naples area – suggestive of some local secret.
It is, however, true, that Catholicism has the power to severely influence people’s vital fluids; the Church has made my blood boil on plenty of occasions.

  • Here is my interpretation.

The blood was only half liquefied.

A man whom claimed to be Pope said that there is no Catholic God, recently claimed that
there is no Hell, and the evil souls are destroyed at death.

Our Lord was attempting to convert Pope Francis before his time runs out.

According to the prophecies of Saint Malachy, Pope Francis or Peter the Roman is
the last Pope of the Catholic Church before Judgment Day.

  • Saint Alphonsus Liguori (Victories of the Martyrs, pg. 284) wrote regarding Saint Januarius:

    Quote
"The Neapolitans honor this saint as the principal patron of their city and nation, and the Lord himself has continued to honor him, by allowing many miracles to be wrought through his intercession, particularly when the frightful eruptions of Mount Vesuvius have threatened the city of Naples with utter destruction. While the relics of St. Januarius were being brought in procession towards this terrific volcano, the torrents of lava and liquid fire which it emitted have ceased, or turned their course from the city. But the most stupendous miracle, and that which is greatly celebrated in the church, is the liquefying and boiling up of this blessed martyr's blood whenever the vials are brought in sight of his head. This miracle is renewed many times in the year, in presence of all who desire to witness it; yet some heretics have endeavored to throw a doubt upon its genuineness, by frivolous and incoherent explanations; but no one can deny the effect to be miraculous, unless he be prepared to question the evidence of his senses."

Maybe the miracle will be that Francis converts to the true faith. Pray for it!

I think it's safe to say that it wasn't THROUGH Francis if God did give us a miracle.  The miracle would be that there are still people who believe in the Catholic faith after Francis. That would be God's miracle associated with Francis.

  • I was actually watching Raymond Arroyo on EWTN "World Over" talking about this.  Even HE expressed skepticism, mentioning that Cardinal Sepe was seen "vigorously shaking" the container of blood just before handing it to Francis; he showed the footage.  This backs up some of the scientific studies showing that the phenomenon could be replicated by shaking.

Januarius. This may vary well happen if he turns out to be "the bishop in white" in the Fatima vision. I daily pray for his conversion and the Consecration of Russia.

Imagine having to pray that a pope will defend the Catholic faith? It is enough to doubt the faith altogether. My only consolation is that God allows it for some reason. Really, I find it hard to pray for someone so dogmatic in his Modernism. A Hail Mary at Mass on Sunday is all I can muster.

Miracles can be used by God for various reasons. One of these is a WARNING. I have had a lifelong problem with the sin of PRESUMPTION. There is so much PRESUMPTION within the NO churchmen that I wonder am I the only person who notices it or even believes in it any more. If the Church emptied under their watch, as it is, I have even heard them say the 'Holy Spirit' is behind it. All they need to do is say God is behind all their actions and beliefs and most Catholics accept this. Is Catholicism now a faith for the gullible?
