But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • Will Francis be appearing on an upcoming episode of Undercover Boss? Pathetic.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

While the papal phoning has been widely greeted with delight, it is also proving somewhat perilous, with unsubstantiated news reports of calls supposedly made by Francis — including one last week to President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, and another to a young distraught French gαy man. The Vatican denied that the pope had made those calls. Some Vatican officials are expressing concern that individuals are impersonating Francis to advance political or ideological agendas.

Ah, but there are no *reasons* for any of these old traditions according to this iconoclast.

    What could possibly go wrong?

Never mind that he is spending half an hour here, (an hour there?) of a 24 hour day where he is supposed to be responsible for a *billion* Catholics, to do things like calland pay his own hotel bill or make these calls.

His other duties twist in the wind, but anything for some press and for people to 'like' him.

  • I wonder, who will be the first person to hang up on him?

  • I remember when Pope Paul VI personally called Franco to plead for the life of one of his prisoners.

  •  :confused1:If I answer the phone and hear a voice telling me he is the pope, I'd hang up, same as I do when a stranger's voice asks me, "Is your refrigerator running?"
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

Well I think if you claim to be a Catholic and you can't be able to recognize the voice of your Pontiff in a day and age where communication is dirt cheap, something is clearly wrong with you. Now of course if you are a more recent convert then that is another story, but for those cradle Catholics they should be able to know this.

  • Maybe it was Benedict texting world leaders... just claiming to still be the pope?

I'll bet +F and pope emeritus Benedict text each other daily.

    Yeah, he's a professional alright.

He's been in the middle of the tear-down of the Church for the past 50 years.

Tearing it down to replace it with newChurch.

  • Watch out. he isn't just talking on the phone;

Pope Francis has accepted an old Renault, a gift from an Italian priest, and indicated that he will use it to drive himself around the Vatican.

Father Renzo Zocca, a priest from Verona, offered to give the Pope his own used car, a 1984 Renault that has logged over 185,000 miles. To his surprise the Pontiff accepted the gift, and the priest delivered the car, giving the Pope a test drive inside the Vatican walls.

"I think the pope will drive it a bit himself inside the Vatican," said Father Ciro Benedettini, the deputy director of the Vatican press office. The old car—the latest manifestation of the Pope’s desire for simplicity—is viewed with alarm by Vatican security officials.

He could be driving to a parish near you.
