One can only wonder what would motivate someone to act in such a way towards a child, much less the Pope himself.
Just a knee jerk reaction to what he saw as he came along? Certainly not a premeditated action, one wouldn't think; but if not, than what? We can only surmise that it was an instinctive reaction on the part of the Pope to suddenly take advantage of the situation at "hand" and demonstrate his disdain for traditional prayer posture for an alter boy, or anyone for that matter. But why? We see a temptation for the Pope that he apparently couldn't seem to overcome - To pull a little boy's hands apart in such a childish display of ridicule for Catholic Tradition. But why - This is the question... Just why did the Pope feel the need to do such a thing on the spur of the moment? And to a little boy at that. Sometimes it's the little things like this that reveal our inner character, and they happen at the most inopportune times.
Make no mistake about it. This is a very telling and revealing situation to have unfold before the whole world. It should have never happened, to anyone, especially a child who was trying to show as much respect to his Lord as he could, in the only way he knew how - As a Catholic Alter-Boy...
