This image tells the whole story about Paul VI.

Something that goes along with this picture, is the quote of someone that was present immediately after he died, "He stinketh."
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

Not many knew he was going to resign (supposedly). But that very date, 12/20/13 was the day he said in a speech that "This is the end of the old Church and the beginning of the new", according to the Vatican Insider. He was working on the "saints" of the new church.

Can you provide a better reference for this quote?  The Vatican website shows that Ratzinger gave one speech on that date (actually, given in 2012) but he did not say this in that speech, or even anything that sounds like this.

I gave the wrong year. It was December 2012 before he resigned. Here is the link to the article I'm referring to http://vaticaninsider.lastampa.it/en/news/detail/articolo/francisco-francis-francisco-23375/

"Francis is the future indicated by Benedict XVI"

Reflections by a biblical scholar from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross
    Domenico Agasso Jr.
    vatican city

He is a biblical scholar, writer and lecturer in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Simone Venturini, 46 years old, has written books such as "I grandi misteri irrisolti della Chiesa" (The Great Unsolved Mysteries of the Church) and "Il libro segreto di Gesù" (The Secret Book of Jesus), and has recently published a book about the still-current events surrounding Benedict XVI's resignation from the papacy, the current situation in the Vatican hierarchy and the future of the Church.

The name and the humble and likeable style of the new Pope have amazed many: is this the first result of a programme of renewal begun by the Church?

"There was a strong need for a new style inside the Church and the Roman Curia. A brotherly style, where everyone can share what is on their minds, where everybody collaborates with frankness in service of the Church. This is the first of other tasty fruits to come. They will grow slowly and will radically change the face of the Holy See, depriving it of that court-like aspect that has characterized it so far."

The first Jesuit Pope, the first who chooses the name Francis, the first Latin American: these are quite a few records for a single Pontiff.

"Because, in my opinion, this is a new beginning for the Church. In an interview in December 2012, Benedict XVI claimed to be the 'end of the old' and 'the beginning of the new'. Now we understand how those words had were of 'great importance in the life of the Church.’ Without Benedict XVI's gesture, I'm not afraid to say a Pope like Francis would never have arrived.  Francis is the beginning of a historical course that will gradually bring the Church back to being a true community of believers capable of bringing hope to the world."

You have just published “Il libro segreto di Papa Ratzinger. L’uomo che ha rinunciato al Papato. Cosa si nasconde dietro la rinuncia al trono di Pietro” (The Secret Book of Pope Ratzinger. The Man who Renounced the Papacy. What Lies behind the Renunciation of the Throne of Peter) published by Newton Compton. What does lie behind this Professor?

"The high and deep conception the Pope Emeritus has of Christianity and the Church is what 'lies behind it'. The Church is not at the mercy of the waves, as it is ruled by God's providential design and by the successors of Peter. The serenity with which Benedict XVI renounced the papacy derives in part from this high understanding. He wants to send this message loud and clear to Christians and to his main colleagues of the Curia: the Church is not the Cardinals', but God's and we are all at His service".

"If the Church stays wrapped up in itself, it will age.  And if I had to choose between a wounded Church that goes out onto the streets and a sick withdrawn Church, I would definitely choose the first one": these words were said recently by Jorge Mario Bergoglio: will they be a cornerstone of his papacy?

"Certainly. The emphasis on God's mercy, taking the cue from last Sunday's biblical readings, means that we need not fear our sins, we must not wait to convert to go to the streets and 'get our hands dirty ' with the poor. Because only by renouncing our narcissism and selfishness will we put God at the centre of our lives, the source of our interior renewal."

What is the biggest hope that the new Bishop of Rome stirs up in you?

"That he will listen to us all without filters, that he will listen to the Holy Spirit and to what it suggests to him for the good of all. More than ever these days it is possible to perceive clearly how important the Church is for world change! I hope and pray that all of us who work for the Holy See will be prepared to give up something for the good of the universal Church."

Thank you.  Yes, in context I understood the year you intended.  I see that it was said in an interview rather than in a speech, which is why it was not in the speech he gave on that date that is published on the Vatican website.

I did not doubt the accuracy of the statement because such a statement is completely in character of Ratzinger, Wojtyła, or even Montini.  We've been hearing about the end of the old and the beginning of the new for 50 years now--and that itself is getting very old.

The reason I wanted the information clarified is that the enemies of the Church constantly pick out and magnify any inaccuracies given which tend to demonstrate the problems in the Conciliar sect as well as deny that these pretended popes have even said the things they say.  With Bergoglio, they've even got the reporter himself to deny that he said anything, so these things, when they are referenced, need to be docuмented.

    Once again, thank you.

Excuse me for quoting myself. I just read the interview with Fr. Lombardi of today 12/27/13 (link below). The nonsense Fr. Lombardi speaks of on the article below is the same nonsense that was mentioned in the article being quoted (above in red ink). Ambiguity used to cover their deceit. He is referring to the “new church” foretold by BXVI on 12/2013 and for which he moved out of the way: the “New Evangelization”, the “Evangelical Catholicism”or “Latin American Catholicism” of Francis which has earned the praise and recognition of the enemies of the Church.

    http://vaticaninsider.lastampa.it/en/the-vatican/detail/articolo/papa-el-papa-pope-padre-lombardi-30851/

From Today's Interview with Fr. Lombardi:

    On Ratzinger’s resignation

Ratzinger’s decision to step down from the pontificate “is a choice which left its mark on the Church this year and will continue to mark the Church in the decades to come,” Fr. Lombardi said. Benedict XVI’s resignation “will affect the pontificates to come.” The move “has opened up a path, a possibility let’s say, which in terms of the reason for the resignation, is to do with the times we are living in, as Bergoglio rightly said.” It is not so much down to a personal choice but taking stock of the accuмulation of problems that come with changing times.”The Pope took stock of this showing great lucidity and humility, giving the Church the chance to be led with renewed vigour. And this is precisely what has happened and it has happened in an astounding and unexpected way.”
