  • Not good. Benedict quit using it a few years ago, now Francis has brought it back:

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • That is the ugliest cross I have ever seen. I have always been repulsed by it. It is very sad that it is in use again.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • At lease Benedict XVI got the message  and put it away.

I understood that this cross was designed for John XXIII and he
died before he could use it.

  • Even if that crooked cross  is not a symbol used for mockery, it is probably the ugliest possible cross that one could think of without veering into the kind of outright blasphemy that could simply not be denied.  In addition to this observation, I think that cross has a dual purpose.  The first purpose being offensive ugliness, the second being an aesthetic attempt to reduce religious fervor to Christ's Holy Cross.

A prelate wouldn't, even couldn't pick out that cross from the ones available, nor from the dozens of artists which could be commissioned to produce one, unless he had a form of disorder to him.

  • This un-crucifix (it has no INRI on top so it's not a crucifix) is a modern
adaptation of a satanism design from the middle ages or earlier.  The
sagging crossbeam is a symbol of a defeated Christ, for it is one step
away from the BROKEN crossbeam, which, by the way is more commonly
known as the "peace sign" of the hippie generation - that grew out of
the abominable 1960's, the years that followed satan's temporary
triumph over the Church when the Pope - refused to announce the Third
Secret - gave up on condemnation of error - and opened Vat.II without
intending it for the purpose it should have served --- the condemnation of
Communism - the definition of Our Lady, Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix -
and the Collegial Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Besides the sagging crossbeam, there is the salacious posture of Our Lord's
knees, the corrupted texture of its half-melted surface, and the emaciated
hollowness of Our Lord's body - all blatant lies.  This is a really ugly thing,
and it cannot do anything for our contemplation of the mysteries of the
Rosary or the Stations of the Cross.

Can you imagine trying to meditate on Stations when the images
depicted ARE ALL IN THE STYLE OF THIS THING?

Can you imagine what the devil's voice coming from a possessed subject
during exorcism would say about the exorcist's crucifix if he were to hold
one like this instead of a St. Benedict Cross?

    Can you imagine
the horror of dying in a strange place, not your own home,
when someone brings you a cross and it looks like THIS????

I had a private audience with JPII
(part of a small group) and he gave us
all rosaries.  They had this cross on them, and the centerpiece was HIS
    OWN IMAGE!!
It wasn't easy for me to decide to remove the un-crucifix,
but a man I knew at the time gave me understanding.  He held up a real
crucifix in front of my face, and asked me why I don't have one like that
on my rosary.  Since I could not think of a good answer, I changed out
the cross.  His name was Norbert.  He moved to Las Vegas.  There is a
Trad chapel there.  It's funny how little things like that can leave a lasting
impression.  That was 20 years ago.  He wasn't well at the time.  I doubt
    he survives, bless his soul.

  • I believe that the ugly cross is a judaeo-freemasonic fabrication to mock Christ and true believers.

I am strongly inclined to agree.  Our Lord suffered and died on the Holy Cross on Good Friday and there are many beautiful and inspiring crucifixes that portray His suffering but this particular crucifix is one of ugliness and it's bent.  Even before I became a Trad, I never cared a whit for this one but now I'm absolutely suspicious of anyone who would make the conscious choice and personal assent of the mind and will to have this crucifix as their chosen crucifix.

Even those banal Risen Christ crosses are a skyscraper in height step up from this bent cross.

    As for it's history...

Didn't John XXIII commission an artist to design this really ugly cross?

Does anyone know if the allegations of this cross being of Satanic origin is true or at least probably true?
