Yes, it’s a retirement house for elderly priests. I was leaving the archdiocese at the end of last year and had already submitted my resignation to Benedict XVI when I turned 75. I chose a room and said, “I want to come to live here.” I will work as a priest, helping the parishes. This is what was going to be my future before being Pope.

The Church is in great danger. We must pray so that the Pope may not leave Rome; count-less evils would result if he did. They are now demanding something from him. The Protestant doctrine and that of the schismatic Greeks are to spread everywhere. I now see that in this place (Rome) the (Catholic) Church is being so cleverly undermined, that there hardly remain a hundred or so priests who have not been deceived. They all work for destruction,even the clergy. A great devastation is now near at hand.
The ecclesiastics in the inner circle looked insincere and lacking in zeal; I did not like them. I told the Pope of the bishops who are to be appointed soon. I told him also that he must not leave Rome. If he did so, it would be chaos. He thought that the evil was inevitable and that he should leave in order to save many things beside himself. He was very much inclined to leave Rome, and he was insistently urged to do so. The Pope is still attached to the things of this earth in many ways.
And of course the "two popes" prophecy also mentions Rome being infested with heretics (who will drive out pope):

I saw it increase in size; heretics of every kind came into the city (of Rome). The local clergy grew lukewarm, and I saw a great darkness…Then, the vision seemed to extend on every side. But I saw also that help was coming when distress had reached its peak. I saw again the Blessed Virgin ascend on the Church and spread her mantle [over it]. I saw a Pope who was at once gentle, and very firm… I saw a great renewal, and the Church rose high in the sky.

This is another sad result of the progressive revolution within the Church. The modernists want a periodical Papacy in order to further disminish the concept of a Monarchical, - until death - Papacy. In this rotating form of Papacy, the institution of the Roman Pontiff is basically undermined and treated as a common job... and popes can resign by personal convenience, and not for notorious incapacity.
Shameful, to say the least.

Or did the interviewer not ask that question? (Maybe it was asked but the answer was not provided?)
"After you became Pope, did you cancel your retirement home reservation? ... Why not?" But the Neo-Catholic Regurgitator and Jimmy Akin make for a pretty weak pair of reporting devices, so it shouldn't be too surprising.
For if the reservation still exists, it is tantamount to Francis presuming that he will follow the example of his predecessor but add his "own touch" to the "growing tradition" by leaving not only the Vatican but by leaving Italy; by leaving not only Italy but by leaving Europe; by not only leaving Europe but by crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

New church vies the papacy as the "Head Presider" and wants the faithful and, more accurately, the self-serving novus ordite followers to view the papacy as a presidency. Look at the U.S., it has three surviving ex-presidents and they get to go around making speeches and cutting ribbons and now these PE's can do the same.
In the interview, Jimmy Akin is very sure that Benedict XVI will be a saint someday. Amazing. As for Mr. Akin, since he is a Protestant convert, he probably just sees the Catholic Church as a Protestant church but with a 2,000 year history instead of the average six month history of these Protestant houses of ill-repute. Or, in a sinister light, the Novus Ordo sect hires these kind of men to be soothsayers to the self-aggrandizing followers.

That describes their conception of the papacy perfectly.
It reminds me how the Modernist exegetes think Jesus just "presided" over the multiplication of loaves, not that He caused them to multiply.
