  • Vow of obedience doesn't include selling Church property to a satanist.
They also made a vow of poverty which means that while technically they may own the property their right to dispose of the property is dependent on the interpretation of their superiors (aka the bishop)

    Poche,

    You lack discernment.

The Nuns had a duty to protect the property from desecration as much as they could.

The court injustice was so dramatic, that one of the Nuns died from the stress of it all.

You just can't seem to discern that the Novus ordo SCHISM, that has infiltrated our Catholic Church is selling off and desecrating Her assets.

It's everywhere... in your face, but you don't want to see it.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • Yes, that is correct. The vow of obedience is primarily to God. But it is also to those who hold the place as His representatives on earth. The mother superior says, "It is your turn to do the dishes." then it is her turn to do the dishes. The mother superior could be an evil person but in her capacity as mother superior she holds the place as God's representative and the sisters have taken a vow that they will obey her. If the mother superior were to say, "Don't go to mass on Sunday" or "I want you to sell drugs on the street corner." I could see disobedience. Sometimes we have to resist the evil that is among us. But in a property sale I just think that the sisters wrong.
They do not represent Him when they act contrary to His will.  They are not being told to do the dishes, they are being told to put your Christian moral conscience aside and let us do this blasphemous thing in Gods name.  This is precisely the same as telling them to sell drugs on the street or to prostitute themselves as an act of obedience.  You are kicking against the goad here Poche. The man who is defined as the defender of the Faith is acting  as its corrupter instead, and he is forcing these nuns to submit to his moral delinquencies under the rule of obedience. It is yet another disgusting abuse of power.

  • When the sisters entered religious life they took three vows, the vow of poverty, chastity and obedience.
A vow is a solemn promise that one makes to God. These are solemn promises that are not made lightly that where you can hold your hands behind your back and cross your fingers. These are not the false promises of the Pharisees where if you swore by the Temple or the altar you were not obligated. These are promises that need to be fulfilled. The most famous of the promises is chastity, and while it is important it is not the first. The first is poverty. By the vow of poverty the religious gives up all right to the disposal of whatever goods they happen to possess.
For example, if you were to give $20 to a priest of the Society of St Pius X and say, "Go have a good time with this Father." He could go to the mass or to a restaurant etc... (The SSPX don't take a vow of poverty) On the other hand if you give this same $20 ti a religious sister and say, "Go have a good time with this sister." She would have to bring that money back to the convent and it would be the mother superior who decides how the $20 would be spent. The property really doesn't belong to them it in the sense that they really own it. It is only given in trust, but it is their superiors who can decide ultimately what actually happens to it.

And if their superiors are going to use it to do something blasphemous and something that harms the Church?   Remember it is not the superior's money it is the Church's and its purpose is to be used for the good of souls.

  • Maybe Poche is somewhat right.  Why didn't the nuns have new vocations so they wouldn't have to sell at all?  Why didn't they use the property as a retreat center? Why didn't these nuns just donate the property to a thriving Catholic order?   And where is their Mother Superior?  ( they wanted to sell the property to a restaurant owner)

For the diocese to go to court against the sisters to sell property  to satanist is pure evil.

Poor Francis refuses the teaching that Jesus told sinners to repent and sin no more.  These are the bad fruits of liberal theology.

To live with the Saints in Heaven is all bliss and glory....To live with the saints on Earth is just another story!  (unknown)

    .
The sisters probably did not hold title to the real estate, because that's normally in the name of the local bishop.
Regardless what the nuns wanted to do with the property in the end it's the bishop's decision since he's the owner.
It might be evil for the bishop to sell property to satanists, but that doesn't make it illegal.
And in the eyes of the court, legal trumps moral every day of the week.

There is no morality left in most of the conciliar prelates. They are not men of God but are creatures of the world.

Why doesn't poche explain how the photo above is Bishop Dolan using the miter to evangelize by letting a witch wear it?

    .
Saying "NO" to "Don't go to Mass on Sunday" or "I want you to sell drugs on the street" would be okay. But for "Your real estate shall be sold to a publicly notorious satanist who could desecrate the property," saying "No" is crossing the line! Why that's just as bad as pretending not to notice when "It's your turn to do the dishes."
    .
Duplicity in action, demonstrated by poche, in accord with the spirit of Vat.II! Failing to obey the order to keep a KP duty schedule could mean the collapse of society! But providing the means for an avowed satanist to conduct Black Mass in public from the grounds of an old convent chapel isn't worth worrying about, according to poche. Nuns have no right to stand up for morality and the good of society, they only have the duty to obey their local bishop, legitimately established (cf. Vat.II, SC 22.2).

    .
Did they also make a vow to abandon their Faith when given the command to do so by their superior?
What's that vow called, the vow of apostasy?
    .
I knew a lifelong faithful nun who was faced with making enormous changes in 1969, when she was about 58 years old, and went to ask family members if she was wrong to be considering leaving her convent. She had spent about 40 years in missionary work with the Victory Knoll Sisters, working in remote places like Calexico near the Mexico border, teaching catechism, caring for the sick, and being a model of Our Lady to the poor. Her superior wanted her to get rid of her habit, and go out into the world looking for a job.

I think that the real problem is that in their rush to follow the "spirit" of Vatican II the sisters may have failed to follow the original charism of their order. The result is that there are now many elderly sisters and almost no younger sisters. This is the reason for the property sale in the first place, to take care of the elderly sisters.

This makes no sense. What does any of this have to do with religious life?
