That would make it extra odd that he would make that decree against
the Franciscans of the Immaculate. Or, since the docuмent was only
in Italian, maybe then it only applies to their house in Rome?

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing! Maybe the Franciscans should just say, "who are you to judge? It's out of your jurisdiction!"

Yes, isn't Opus Dei supposed to support the Pope in anything he says? So if the Pope denies his jurisdiction, shouldn't Opus Dei say "of course, that's right. He's not the Pope, because he said so"?

This is coming from someone whose sister is a member of Opus Dei. I have had very frustrating conversations with that one...
