Since Christian perfection is measured by the degree of charity, he must be arguing that Christians are overall less perfect now than in the past. How does he justify that?
I found this on a Resistance website. Fr. Hesse speaks on the decline of charity since the Council of Trent:https://www.tradidi.com/downloads/Fr-Hesse-Decline-Of-Charity-Since-The-Council-Of-Trent.mp3
What a great find Meg!Every Catholic should listen this is truly a treasure. I pulled my favorite quote from Fr Hesse’ summary in the audio...‘The point I am making is this:Christ’s intervention in the 17th century (Margaret Mary Alacoque and Devotion to the Sacred Heart) and Christ’s message through Our Lady in the 20th century (Fatima and the Immaculate Heart) was direly needed in a Church that was more and more shrinking to a rigid system that would only care about what you believe and not how you love’.
I'm so glad that someone gets it! Thank you. The entire audio by Fr. Hesse needs to be listened to in order to really understand what he's getting at. This talk has changed the way I view the Crisis in the Church.
