  • The Catholic Church which is commonly accepted as such is not a "sect."  The use of such language is both abusive and lazy.  Its abusiveness is obvious since it is taking a Catholic word and terribly misapplying it.  It is lazy because it gives a certain sensational force to a statement without actually proving anything.  So, you wanna belong to the VII sect, eh?!?!?!?  Anyone who objects merely becomes an apologist for the new sect born in 1965.  It cuts off rational discourse and blinds the minds of those who speak as such.  The overuse of this term subjectively reinforces the false notion and soon the person using it comes to really believe it.  It's tossed around as if its a foregone conclusion.  Much like stating the NOM is "invalid" as if it is a theological certitude.  Then, when the abuse of language dominates the mind, the person forms an entire intellectual structure upon it, frees themselves from the encuмbrances of "belonging to this sect" and angrily rails away with unmitigated contempt, insulting and calumnating numerous people, endlessly putting titles in quotes and generally beating up their own self-made strawman.

People who this has happened to:

    Gerry Matatics
    Dr. Droleskey
    Fr. Cekada
    "Fr. Moderator"
    "Lover of Truth"
    Bob Dimond and his brother
    "Raoul"
    "CM"
    etc, etc...
