  • "Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • Good info about Opus Dei from the website linked to.
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

    ~St. Robert Bellarmine

  • Josemaria Escriva had an unsaintly desire for a reinstatement of noble status possibly possessed by an ancestor (that article awaits translation). While he loved the Mass of Ages, being given an indult by Mgsr Bugnini without even seeking it, it is said that he considered becoming Eastern Orthodox in order to have safely abreast of the liturgical horrors of the sixties. I fully understand that, but it makes this cult leader even less saintly.

So he considered Eastern Orthodoxy due to the liturgy, but failed to consider Eastern Rite Catholicism, which has the same liturgy?

That's what I heard, his postulator Mgsr Flavio Capucci said as much, I believe. The danger with Eastern Rite Catholicism then is that what happen to the Latin Rite could possibly have happened to the Greek Catholic Rite. It largely did not, except that Latinisations were removed, even though some were centuries old, but both priestly orders and the liturgy came out well considering. After V2, Eastern Orthodoxy might have seemed a safe haven. It was not then clear the changes would be relatively restrained.
