On "The World Over" I heard an English Catholic Bishop questioned by Raymond Arroyo on the lack of faith in Europe. He quoted the Pope in saying we need a "healthy secularity". Then he said that we don't want a weak Anglican Church. We want a "robust" Anglican Church that we can "partner up" with!

St. Thomas More would love this, wouldn't he? Did he die for this?

Then Raymond interviewed a congressman who was railing on embryonic stem cell research.

So the conservatives rail on the symptoms while they are blind to the disease.

First segment = disease. "Healthy secularity"? Is that like faithful athiesm? Secularism is causing the mass apostasy. Especially secularism invading the Church. The State recognizing the true religion and getting it's morality therefrom (idea jettisoned by VCII) was replaced with the Church being separated from the State under "religious liberty" and hence ignored as the state morally goes off the rails.

Then throw in relativism and human respect. We want heretics as strong partners?? How about, we want the Anglican "church" defunct because all of their members converted?? This insanity make us incapable of right reason. But these ideas are championed under their masks of " religious liberty" and "ecuмenism".

Yet the Neo-Caths angrily rail against the symptoms these diseases cause, as they sit and smile and agree with the diseases being promoted by the Bishop.

And we are incensed at how people vote in pro-aborts and can be so clueless.

EWTN has gone way down hill since Mother Angelica stepped down from the top. I really only watch it now either when Mother Angelica or a TLM is being shown. Usually I avoid the station. It's no longer what would be considered a Catholic station, it's new programs are mostly if not completely Protestant. I mean what is with some of this junk? Shows about puppet nuns wearing chef hats? I believe I once saw a program on there called "The Doughnut Man". Oh, and let's not forget what we saw in May when Benedict was in Fatima inside that ugly new Church and a priest was shown picking his nose. That about sums up the direction the network has taken.

Is there some reason EWTN shouldn't have shows for children? I expect the Doughnut Man and the chef's hat wearing puppets were just that.

More seriously, I am not sure what to make of the"healthy secularity" comment. Perhaps His Excellency means that, given the reality that England is an existentially secular state and will remain so, he hopes that it will be healthy enough to respect the rights of religion and basic morality.

The comments about a robust Anglicanism are easier to understand. People are abandoning the C of E in droves, but they are not becoming Catholics. They are becoming just the sort of secularists the bishop (and people here) fear. Committed Anglicans would be our allies on a number of things. Weak, vaguely Anglican liberals will not. I think this is much the same attitude that that the Orthodox Church, as embodied by Metropolitan Hilarion, takes toward us.

Now, does the bishop really think a robust Anglicanism is better that an Anglicanism consigned to the history books because they have all become Catholics? I don't know. He is not much of a Catholic bishop if so.

These people are blind to spiritual evil. They decry physical abortion, but cozy up with those who cause spiritual abortions. Since they have engaged in a rapproachment with the world, it has resulted in the near total loss of the sense of the supernatural along with its virtues. They have become a carnal-minded people. They try to baptize "culture" but it actually "baptizes" them.

EWTN just calls them children shows to have an excuse for allowing modernist garbage on there. Mother Angelica never allowed anything like that, if that tells you anything. What it should tell you is that the network went from Traditional to modernist with a few Traditional things thrown in every once and a while. EWTN doesn't need shows like that to appeal to children. Parents should be encouraging their kids to watch Mother Angelica or the Traditional Latin Mass instead of some guy passing out doughnuts.

Is it not possible that the same thing affects the 'conservative' take on what has happened (during and) after V2?
