What do you mean approved by Pius 12th? Wasn't the changed mentioned in the second post done by John 23?
Pax Vobis justifies his adherence to the 1962 Missal by insisting (whether true or false, I neither know nor care) that it was largely composed under the reign of Pope Pius XII. Though I don't see how even he could stretch such a train of thought to apply to the Ember Days.

Did not Archbishop Lefebvre accept the '62 missal? I understand it is an opinion, but I don't think you can say that the '62 missal is a definite no go. Several of the resistance bishops use it.

They are quite picky and choosy. I recently watched a video with +Sanborn and he was explaining his disagreements with the post 55 holy week. He talked about how Bugnini was involved in the changes under Pius XII. But regardless who was involved, the Pope still approved the 1955 Holy Week.

He also made a comment about how RCI priests are not allowed to use Gothic vestments and can only use the Roman fiddleback style. He said that the gothic vestments carry modernist and "anti-Rome" connotations, which I found quite odd.
Actually, if you look at the Acta Apostolicae Sedis, Pius XII approval of the 1955 Holy Week is nowhere to be seen, so this is a debatable issue which I have only learned about recently.

About the RCI, some Puritanism is to be expected on an American congregation. They just cannot help it. "If the Modernists do it, we don't do it just because they do it, even if there's nothing wrong about it". Exaggerated of course, but it does make some sense.

Ain't that the truth.
